A security guard allegedly restrained a 22-year-old student using a wire around her neck and raped her on the terrace of a society in Jodhpur late on Saturday night. Anandnagar police said the accused, Dharm Singh, 27, a native of Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district, was arrested from Hebatpur early on Sunday. He had been deployed at the society only six days ago. "She has been in the city for around two years for studies," said Verma, adding that she tried to scream, but the accused had overpowered her and tried to strangle her with the wire. Police will next record her statement and probe if the guard knew of her routine. The security agency will also be questioned about his registration.

Police said the couple, who got married in Madurai in 2024, had been living separately for around a year following a family dispute and were not in contact with each other. She ran towards the cellar parking area in an attempt to escape, but the accused allegedly caught hold of her and threw acid on her. He then grabbed her by the hair and repeatedly attacked her with a machete. The assault unfolded in full public view, triggering panic among onlookers. Hearing her screams, several people rushed to help and raised an alarm. However, the accused allegedly brandished the machete at those who attempted to intervene, preventing them from approaching the victim. In a shocking incident of brazen violence, a gang of about 10 people barged into a house in Ashraya Layout, Chintamani town, on Tuesday night and brutally attacked two sisters, stabbing one of them in the stomach and neck. The incident comes hours after the elder sister had slapped two youths for teasing her on her way home from college. The victims have been identified as Meghana (18) and her younger sister Niharika. According to police sources, Meghana was returning home from college when two local youths – identified as Karthik and Vinod – harassed her, passing lewd comments and calling out "Madam, Madam" while behaving inappropriately. An irked Meghana slapped the duo and later informed her mother about the ordeal. In what appears to be an act of revenge, the same two youths, allegedly under the influence of ganja (cannabis), returned around 8:30 PM with a gang of roughly 10 accomplices. The group forcibly entered the family's home and launched a vicious attack on the sisters. The assailants first assaulted Niharika and then turned on Meghana, stabbing her in the abdomen and neck with a knife. Both sisters sustained critical injuries and were initially rushed to a local hospital. Owing to the severity of their wounds, they were later referred to Kolar District Hospital for advanced medical care. Chintamani City Police have registered an FIR against more than 10 individuals in connection with the attack. A case has been filed under the jurisdiction of Chintamani City Police Station, and investigations are ongoing. In a shocking incident of brazen violence, a gang of about 10 people barged into a house in Ashraya Layout, Chintamani town, on Tuesday night and brutally attacked two sisters, stabbing one of them in the stomach and neck. The incident comes hours after the elder sister had slapped two youths for teasing her on her way home from college. The victims have been identified as Meghana (18) and her younger sister Niharika. According to police sources, Meghana was returning home from college when two local youths – identified as Karthik and Vinod – harassed her, passing lewd comments and calling out "Madam, Madam" while behaving inappropriately. An irked Meghana slapped the duo and later informed her mother about the ordeal. In what appears to be an act of revenge, the same two youths, allegedly under the influence of ganja (cannabis), returned around 8:30 PM with a gang of roughly 10 accomplices. The group forcibly entered the family's home and launched a vicious attack on the sisters. The assailants first assaulted Niharika and then turned on Meghana, stabbing her in the abdomen and neck with a knife. Both sisters sustained critical injuries and were initially rushed to a local hospital. Owing to the severity of their wounds, they were later referred to Kolar District Hospital for advanced medical care. Chintamani City Police have registered an FIR against more than 10 individuals in connection with the attack. A case has been filed under the jurisdiction of Chintamani City Police Station, and investigations are ongoing. Police are currently examining the sequence of events and are on the lookout for the accused, who remain at large. A 28-year-old businessman in Faridabad died by suicide inside his shop on Sunday after hanging himself. Before taking the extreme step, he posted a video on Instagram in which he accused his wife and her family of mentally harassing him. Police have launched an investigation and are also examining the allegations made in the video. In the Instagram video posted before his death, Rahul accused his wife Jyoti, his mother-in-law Veena, his father-in-law Bittu and his wife's sister Neetu of mentally harassing him. He claimed that despite doing all household chores, including sweeping and washing utensils, he was assaulted, and false cases were filed against him. He said he had been living under constant mental stress. Rahul also said in the video that his wife and her family were responsible for his death and should be punished according to the law. He further said that after his death, his property should go to his mother, sister and brothers. The victim, Rahul, had opened a garment shop around four months ago. According to police, Rahul met his mother at home on Sunday morning before leaving for his shop. A short while later, he hanged himself inside the shop. Police reached the spot after receiving information, took custody of the body and sent it to hospital for post-mortem. They alleged that after the marriage, his wife did not want him to live with his parents, following which he started living separately. They said Rahul had recently opened his new garment shop. A family member, Amit, alleged that Rahul had been under severe mental stress due to harassment by his wife and her family. He claimed that Rahul's wife had also filed a case against him, which added to his stress. The family further alleged that Rahul was not even allowed to meet his parents. Investigating officer Sanjay Kumar said police have sent the body for post-mortem and are investigating the case. A 19-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her father during a counselling session in Uttar Pradesh's Banda district after she insisted on living with a man she had married against her family's wishes, police said. SP Bansal said that based on a complaint lodged by the victim's mother, police registered a murder case against the woman's father. The accused has been taken into custody and the weapon used in the crime has been recovered. "The woman had been safely recovered and her family was informed. During counselling and discussions with her parents, her father attacked her with a sharp weapon. A case has been registered and the accused has been detained.
