Missing in Japan: Family pleads for help finding 20-year-old Weston Higginbotham An Alabama family is desperately searching for their son Weston Higginbotham, who vanished while on a family trip to Kyoto, Japan to celebrate his brother’s high school graduation. Weston was last seen on May 29th. After some normal family bickering in their hotel room, the family decided to split up for the afternoon. Weston, an experienced traveler and triathlete, headed out on his own. He was tracked walking by the river, visiting stores, and boarding a train before his phone location went completely dark. He is described as a strong, well-traveled 20-year-old Auburn student who loves hiking and the outdoors. His parents say he is a vegan, very kind-hearted, and physically capable of surviving in the wilderness. What he was last wearing: - White t-shirt that says “Save the Bees” - Lavender pants with large cuffs at the bottom - Two silver earrings - Beat-up Adidas sneakers Japanese police have deployed search teams with dogs, helicopters, and officers searching rugged terrain. The family says authorities have been very responsive, but they are also asking for the public’s help spreading awareness. Weston’s parents, Nancy and Keith, remain hopeful: “He is built to endure… he can survive. We are going to find him.” Prayers for Weston’s safe return home.
