Source: BC Gov News Release Millions more have been quietly committed for “transition costs” to fund Haida’s self-declared government, court systems, and territorial control—none of which is democratic, and all of which operates outside BC and Canadian law. This “Aboriginal title” is granted to fewer than 5,000 Haida citizens (many of whom live off the island), yet every BC taxpayer pays the bill—while their own communities face hospital closures, housing shortages, and rising crime. This is not reconciliation. This is the erasure of Canadian sovereignty. It’s time to repeal DRIPA, reject UNDRIP, and end the Indian Act in BC. Every reserve, including Haida, must be transitioned to municipal, village, or town governance under BC law—with the same rules, accountability, and transparency as every other community in the province. The same model used for Metro Vancouver and Okanagan districts should apply to Indigenous communities. That’s how we build one British Columbia—united, lawful, and equal. No more fake nations.
