A driver, determined not to miss his exit, forcibly merged, causing a New Jersey man to crash into the guardrail with his elderly mother in the car. Wild scene. Super avoidable. The driver of the red truck didn’t even stop

Dash cams are becoming increasingly important to have it seems.

@the_dailydrop Literally the day I purchased one I was hit from behind last week.

Maybe they are a curse instead.

Good example of what “I was in the right “ does. Tap your brakes a little people it’s Ok

Boomer sticker collection. Shouldn’t be hard to find.

I hope they got caught

@ASSEENONAI I sure hope so also.

If someone does this. Don’t turn into the guard rain. Turn into him. Especially a truck. Hope everyone’s ok and they can find the truck.

I am not saying the truck driver was in the right. He was definitely wrong, but couldn't the driver that crashed have just slowed down and let him through? That would've avoided the whole thing.

Contact New Jersey State Police if you recognize this vehicle

You see this coming 3 business days before he hits you and you could have pushed the brakes to avoid collision. It's not like the red truck is right, he's not, but the graveyard is full of people who were right. Defensive driving saves lives.

Clearly never played driving games. Good bit of wheel to the right would have spun that moron out of the way. Might have to let off the gas while he spins past.

Should have PIT maneuvered his ass!

Volvo guy is to blame. You have to be attentive to what is happening around you. If a guy is coming to merge in front of you like that, either brake and give him space or accelerate and close the space completely. Being in the middle will cause that.

If only he hit the brakes instead of the horn.

If I had my mother (or any other loved one for that matter) in the car with me, I’m sucking up my pride and letting them over. Even if I’m by myself I would, but I’m just saying that his mother (if she is elderly) could have been seriously hurt or worse.

"it's not that serious!" then why didn't you just slow down a little and let him in

Both are terrible drivers

Plenty of opportunity to avoid this crash.

Some people should 100% not have licenses

Bro could have def just hit the breaks and stopped instead of hitting the gas to go faster.... The only thing he did right was have a dash cam to recorded how bad his driving is

Kinda looks like they were trying to keep the truck from getting over.

Sidenote to Traffic Engineers: Left exits & left merges are a super bad idea, particularly considering the skill level of American drivers, or near-total lack thereof to be found in many of them.

You should probably let people merge then huh?

Gotta love that Volvo safety. Plowed through 20ft of guardrail like nothin

I’m sure the guy who wrecked wouldn’t let him over for a longgggg time….

I HATE left hand exits

Well you have his plate number! Hopefully…

A bad driver never misses their turn.

Looks like they both could have slowed down

Ummm that was avoidable. Dude is trying to get paid

You see it all the time here in NJ. I’ve named it. The “Jersey Slide”

I would've just accelerated and hit him. Happened to me exactly like this and I hit his ass in the back corner and he was faulted for all kinds of shit and I had no dash cam. I'm not gonna run into a guardrail lucky it didn't malfunction and kill y'all!

far too many cammers have ego issues or seem emboldened by the "i have a camera so i can prove it was his fault" mentality rather than being defensive drivers. sure feels like he could've braked earlier and just been cut off instead of trying to hold his ground

He’s lucky the guardrail was installed the right way or that could have been much worse. Many guardrails are not properly installed making them deadly.

A bad driver never misses their exit.

Gee, if only the red truck driver had slowed and pulled in behind the car.

Red truck-completely in the wrong. The road was empty. Could've easily dropped behind the Volvo, WHO HAD THE RIGHT OF WAY! No need to be so aggressive. Yet, he felt the need to accelerate and then cut off the Volvo. And the Volvo moved over a lane before getting run off the road.
