Today VOCAL Africa and partners, we spoke to this issue and made the following demands among others: 1. Disband the current police service completely 2. Devolve police to regions but still under national government 3. Arrest killer cops and ensure all officers of the rank of inspector and above do not join the new police service 4. Raise education entry requirement to C (plain) but prioritize graduates and female officers.

On prevailing flood situation and rescue operations, Nepal Police Spokesperson, DIG Abhi Narayan Kapale says, "Due to the flood in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers, affecting the areas of Rasuwa through Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Chitwan, Tanahun, and East Nawalparasi, Nepal Police has prioritised immediate rescue and search operations and mobilised personnel accordingly. So far, 100 dead bodies have been recovered from different districts. Out of 64 police personnel working in various police offices of Rasuwa, 32 have been contacted, while 28 are currently out of contact. In view of this natural disaster, Nepal Police has mobilized personnel from both the center (Police Headquarters) and local levels. A team of 22 police personnel under the command of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Chanda Bahadur Budathoki along with an additional medical team has been sent to Rasuwa. Officers Commanding Stations (OCS) within Nairobi convened at the National Police Leadership Academy in Ngong to give their views on the establishment of the Nairobi Metropolitan Police Unit. One message stood out clearly that policing in the city will be most effective when communities, through their estates and neighbourhoods, have a stronger sense of ownership over the police stations that serve them. The escalating situation in Kasarani is deeply concerning. Our team of Advocates has been unable to gain access to Kasarani Police Station, where some Kenyans are being held, as the roads have been barricaded. We take note of reports of several persons who have been beaten up and injured by police. We demand that the National Police Service-Kenya exercise restraint from using excessive force against the people. We have also seen images of police indiscriminately lobbing teargas cannisters in largely residential areas and without provocation. This itself is a breach of the peace and order police are required to maintain.

Petitioner Muskan Singh says, "Today we have filed the PIL under Article 226 through our counsels Karnika Bahuguna and Pooja Kushwaha. The problem was that there was an absence of sanitary pad vending machines and disposable incinerators in Delhi police stations across all of Delhi. On behalf of the Justice for Rights Foundation, we have filed this PIL.... The bench of the Chief Justice has issued a notice to the respondents, that is, the Union of India and the NCT of Delhi, to submit a status report and to conduct a survey in all police stations across Delhi. Kenyan police have a reputation for being problematic, corrupt, and violent, but this level of disrespect toward a police officer is unacceptable. The foreigner captured in this video deserves to be prosecuted, jailed, and then deported. I can guarantee that if it had been a Kenyan who dared to do this to an officer, he would have been beaten to death. Kenyan police fear whiteness and anyone who looks rich. As President, I shall send all current police officers for retraining and retire those who cannot be retrained. In my government, we shall pay police better, upgrade police stations to ensure better working conditions, and have officers live in the community. The police will be allowed to have a union to fight for their rights.

#WATCH | Ghaziabad, UP: On the Surya Murder Case, DCP Dhawal Jaiswal says, "An accident occurred on 28 May, in which Surya Chauhan was stabbed by an individual named Asad, who died during treatment. Based on a complaint filed by his family, a police station has registered a case against five people. A case was registered in Khoda under relevant sections, and swift action was taken, resulting in the arrest of the three main accused. Asad, the main accused in this incident, was absconding, and a reward of Rs 50 thousand had been announced by the police team. Today, the police team received information that Asad was going to meet some of his friends in the Khoda police station area and was planning to escape after taking some money from them. Based on this information, the entire team combed the entire area and set up checkpoints. In this sequence, Asad and one of his friends are seen arriving here on a bike. The police team attempts to stop them and warn them, but instead of stopping, they open fire on the police team. In the retaliatory fire, the police fire in self-defence, in which Asad is shot. Asad is immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. During this exchange of fire, one of our constables was also injured and has been taken to the hospital... Asad's bike has been recovered, and the pistol he used to fire has also been recovered. The police are conducting a thorough investigation of the entire incident and taking further legal action."
