It would have been a lot better to take that $50B taxpayer money and invest it in the S&P500.

SO does this deal make Ottawa the owner & operator or AB? Either we lose control of our own resource industry to Ottawa through ownership & taxes or are burdened with $50B bill & a 25year break even point with increasing carbon taxes & de-carbonization regime. Let's get out!

Definitely sounds like you weren't the director of finance. TC and Pembina pipeline both trade with p/e between 25 and 30 I don't disagree that we're overly regulated, and it would be great if Danielle pushed harder, but the business case unequivocally makes sense for taxpayers

Maybe Smith is playing 4D chess and can go to Trump and force KXL to be a centre point for the CUSMCA talks. Thats the only economical project left.

That was a good rundown Marty. Danielle must have gotten desperate. It doesn’t fix the underlying problems & ties us into Carney’s carbon scheme. Asia wants low cost product, not decarbonized barrels. We lock into high cost structure which will be bad during low price cycles.
