Danielle pretending that she’s concerned about wasting 14 million $ on a referendum, “that could go to hospitals and schools”. A) this was never mentioned as a deterrent to separatists B) We know it would never go to public services anyway… too many friends to pay off

Watching the news on Global Edmonton this morning and there is absolutely no mention of this local push back to mining the Eastern Slopes. Is this just an error in reporting prescient local news or is this a major News Network playing partisan Political Politics?

Albertans have said over and over and over again, "No coal mining in the eastern slopes." The UCP government recently lifted the moratorium on coal mining in our mountains to avoid a lawsuit that they caused because of their own incompetence. This government promised to protect our mountains and yet here we are calling open season on mining and risking irreparable damage to our economy, agriculture sector, recreational lands and water. We need to keep up the pressure to tell Danielle Smith and her UCP this is unacceptable. We want mountains not mines.

Albertans just received a giant lump of coal before Christmas from the UCP government. Alberta's two energy ministers announced today that they want to increase coal mining in Alberta. This announcement gives us no economic benefit and a lot of environmental risk, a lot of pollution, a lot of challenges for our watershed, a lot of risks to our agricultural industry, and it just shows once again the UCP is a political movement that has no interest in actually being a government. Danielle Smith confirms Corb Lund's Water Not Coal petition WILL NOT be on the October 19th ballot. She says Elections Alberta said all questions had to be in by June 1st. Now, it will go through the process but the earliest it could come to a referendum in October 2027.
