This may only be indirectly helpful, but I believe that this match [28.10.1978] was broadcast by The Big Match on LWT & also shown on Match of the Week & Granada-region. I'm sure someone will have taped it!

I was at this game 😀. 1978 seems about right, because I was with my Dad. It would have been a division two game, not "top flight"... I remember that we lost, but I don't recall it being on TV...

This edition of The Big Match should be available from Itv sport archive. They charge £350 +, so not cheap,!

He went to the end of the handshake line after the game and some of the football players were behind him the line. He tried to diffuse the situation, asked a police officer for help to remove the football players. The next thing he knew he was being handcuffed. A ref sent this to us and posted it on our facebook page “This happened in Sunday league game last weekend. All escalated from a penalty being awarded. To the club assistant calling me a cxxt bastard, prick, going to get me after the game.  Then players reacted after exchanging words. The player that fouled in the box for the awarding of the penalty had an altercation with the other. This mealy went on for 5+ minutes of fighting throwing fists, club Assitant hit players around the head, people being kicked in the head. Obviously I was off the pitch by this point. match abandoned and trying to witness what was happening. Whilst collecting my bag, I was threatened, told it’s all my fault, I’m a racist, im a cxxt Also Followed to my car told I’ll find out where you live I’m coming for you, you ain’t getting paid you cxxt All for The love of the game!!! But….”

Jalen Brunson telling a story about Chris Paul coming to his final 4 game in college “2018 we were in the final 4 in San Antonio and he was playing with Houston. I remember him and little Chris drove to San Antonio for my final 4 game. He came to the game, I think they sat near or with my dad for the game. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this during a preseason game. A fan taunted the ref and refused to give him the ball back, so he was thrown out of the game. Even LeBron got up and gestured for him to be removed. #Lakeshow

I’ve never been a part of a championship team where the best players weren’t the hardest working and most bought in players on the team. If you want to win, your best players have to lead the way with effort and being a great teammate. Check out Wild superstar Matt Boldy on these clips from yesterday’s game against Detroit. First, he scores a great goal after getting physical and helping to create the turnover. Next he threads a SWEET pass to Kaprizov for the game winner. Then – he gets in front of a one-timer on the ice 6on5 in the dying seconds with a one goal lead. Blocks a bomb from MORITZ SEIDER to seal the win. Minnesota is getting ready to make a run. Having Matt Boldy help lead the way is HUGE.

This was Brock Purdy's best game. Not from a box score standpoint, but he ran out of countless sacks and bailed the offense out on third down numerous times. Some of his best decisions were throwaways. He had 7 throwaways in the game, matching his season total. It wasn't a great game for the 49ers WRs or the running game. That meant Purdy would need to make plays while playing within himself on obvious passing downs. He did. On 3rd & 5 or longer, from the two-minute drill on, Purdy went 6-for-8 with five first downs and a TD in a windy road game vs. a top 5 passing defense. Here are 5 of those third down throws. Quality bounce back after last week.

Scottie Scheffler has the chance to win the career grand slam at the US Open this week. Ahead of the championship he was asked what it would mean for the sport if he were to do it: “That's a good question. I think it would definitely bring more eyeballs to the sport, which is always a good thing. I think golf is a great game. I think it's something that everybody should have a chance to be introduced to. I think you learn a lot about yourself. This game also featured a 23-minute argument in which both teams protested, a corded landline was brought to the front row seats of the NL Commissioner, and he was smoking a cigar inside the Astrodome. 1980 man ... what a year.

What is your analysis of this? 🗣️ Xabi Alonso: I think Arda has the ability to play at different heights on the pitch and to have different kinds of influence, depending on what the team needs. He has a very good touch, he knows how to organize the play, and he also knows, in the decisive phase - when you're already in the final third - how to give the final pass, and even arrive a bit from the second line. The goal against Valencia came from a run he made, and then he crossed to Kylian. It depends on what we have around him, on the players next to him. He can adapt, and that quality gives us flexibility in our game plans. But Arda is growing a lot, and I think I said it at the Club World Cup: we need to invest a lot in Arda because he is a special player, a different player. We need to demand more from him, but we also need to understand the different phases he goes through, support him, and push him hard so he keeps performing at the level he is showing - and he can still improve, without a doubt.
