Having witnessed Brazil's successful flex-fuel journey firsthand, I have seen how transformative this technology can be for an entire nation. Today, India begins writing its own success story. A future where Indian vehicles are powered by Indian innovation, Indian farmers, and Indian energy. The road ahead is cleaner. The road ahead is greener. The road ahead is more self-reliant. #WATCH | Delhi: On ethanol, Vikram Gulati, Country Head and Executive Vice President (Corporate Affairs and Governance) of Toyota Kirloskar Motor, says, "...I think there is a lot of misunderstanding about the fuel. For example, if you look at it from the automotive sector, there is a lot of myth that if you use E20 blended fuel, vehicles will get damaged. It's a myth. It doesn't happen this way. There's a lot of myth about the amount of mileage loss or the fuel efficiency loss. Yes, there is some fuel efficiency loss, no doubt. But it is not so big as it is being made out to be...E85 and E100, that is, 85% ethanol and 100 % ethanol, are not meant for regular cars. It is meant for a different type of technology, which is called a flex fuel vehicle. This vehicle can take any mix of ethanol. So people need not worry. E20 is the standard fuel that will be available, and it is compatible with old vehicles and new vehicles. All vehicles sold after 1st of April 2023 are fully materially compliant with E20. And people need to be reassured that in 2021, before we went into E20, there was a very detailed scientific study done by the leading automobile testing agency in the country, which is ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India). It clearly established that the possible damage to cars and two wheelers which are old is not there. It's very insignificant. And it also established that the fuel efficiency loss is to the extent of 2 to 4 per cent, not significant." On ethanol, he says, "As per the latest statistics from the government, the program so far has helped save 1.9 trillion rupees. Out of that, 1,60,000 crores has gone to farmers. India imports energy worth about ₹150 billion every year; and as our green energy transition moves steadily ahead under PM Sh Narendra Modi Ji’s guidance, we have now achieved 20% ethanol blending. Interacted with senior officers of the Indian Foreign Service participating in the IFS Mid-Career Training Programme-III and discussed India’s energy security and energy diplomacy. As the India Growth Story resonates across the world, India is not merely a participant in the global energy landscape but is increasingly shaping it as the world’s third-largest consumer of energy and oil, third-largest refiner and fourth-largest LNG importer. India’s energy demand is expected to grow 2.5 times by 2047, accounting for around 25% of incremental global demand. Bro copied the standards for Ethanol policy from USA, but didn't copy their testing results and implementation. Even today, E20 is not mandated in the USA. Standard American gas stations predominantly sell E10 fuel, which holds over 95% of the market share. Higher ethanol blends like E15 have only a 1–2% share. The USA tested E15 and E20 across 86 vehicle models and 6 million miles (96 lakh miles) in 2011, based on which E15 was approved only for new cars that were E15 compliant, while older cars continued to get E10. E20 was not mandated due to engine wear concerns in non-compliant cars, which were in the majority in the USA. And most importantly, unlike India, the USA made their studies public. So what kind of policymaking is this? If you want to copy, either copy everything: the standards, the test results, the implementation, the way ahead, or don't copy anything at all.

India did the entire world a favour by buying Russian oil because if we had not done so, the global oil prices would have skyrocketed to $200/barrel. Russian oil was never under any sanctions and there was only a price cap, which Indian entities also followed. Let us not forget that while some ill informed commentators talked about putting restrictions on India, many other European and Asian nations bought much more crude oil, diesel, LNG, rare earth minerals worth billions of dollars from Russia. We will continue to buy energy from whoever offers the best rates to our oil companies. That’s the confidence of PM Narendra Modi Ji’s leadership.
