What’s the balance between being too strict and too permissive as a parent? In this video, I explain why letting kids "do whatever they want" is a disaster and share my approach: taking full responsibility for helping my kids make good decisions while respecting their autonomy. This means constantly reframing situations, explaining consequences across different time frames, and persisting until they can see the objective reality of their choices. I share real examples from my own parenting - from getting my kids to embrace learning math and writing, to helping them build strong sibling relationships. This approach requires high skill, patience, and creativity, but it develops kids who can think independently and make wise decisions with confidence.
