A guy named Philip turned every old iPhone and iPad into a working second monitor for free. It is called OpenDisplay. It gives your Mac a real extended display using an Apple device you already own. You can use it for: > Messages > Spotify > Documentation > Video...

But MacOS natively supports display extension to an iPad. What this does different?

Dropped frames on my Quest 2 past 35fps until I wired the AP directly to my desk.

Thank you for naming the guy.. Most people write viral posts by saying this dude, or this guy.. they never attribute the creator.

iPad Air 2 not supported. Such a disappointment. While the App Store says it’s compatible, it won’t allow the app to install as it needs iPadOS 16.4 at least. iPad Air 2 was excluded from iPad OS 16.

Now we need someone to make it work in Linux and Windows.

I built an app to control the Mac with two mouses. Because why not.

Am I missing something here? This is a basic iOS function for iPads. iPhones would be a nice addition.

@Wealth_Pill Wonder it this’ll work on an iMac, meaning the iMac becomes the extra monitor for my MacBook Pro

The best part is no account. A local tool like this should feel like plugging in a cable.
