This time, the conflict is between her and the Chairman of the Senate Committee on North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Senator Titus Zam, over her alleged exclusion from the Senate Committee. Findings by Arise News revealed that membership of the Senate Committee is selected from across the country’s six geopolitical zones and that only two senators are selected from each state.

In coordination with the South Asian Olympic Committee, the dates for the Games have been finalized from 4th to 11th April, 2027. The appointment of a National Coordinator and composition of the Steering, Organizing & Provincial Committees were also approved. A total of 28 sports will be contested, with over 6,000 athletes & officials expected to participate. Events will be held in Islamabad, Punjab & Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Deputy Prime Minister directed all concerned to maintain close coordination, ensure timely completion of venues & uphold the highest standards for the successful hosting of the Games. He further directed the Steering Committee to meet every month to monitor progress. The meeting was attended by the Advisor to the PM on IPC, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Secretary IPC, representatives of the provincial governments and senior federal and provincial officials.

Lakki Marwat Incident Raises Questions About Police Peace Committee’s Role On 28 May 2026 in Lakki Marwat, the nephew of Sub inspector Saboor, a member of the local Police Peace Committee, was arrested after being identified as a Khariji militant. Evidence also indicated that Saboor’s son was involved in facilitating the group. According to local sources, once concrete evidence emerged, Najibullah, chairman of the Village Defence Committees of Landiwa and Kurram Par, informed other members of the Police Peace Committee about the details of the case. The disclosure led to internal disagreements within the committee over why a wanted individual had been sheltered under its protection. Further concern was raised after a voice note surfaced, allegedly from Khalid Khan, president of the Police Peace Committee, in which he used language calling for open confrontation, the return of weapons, and threats against the military. After the operation, videos of Saboor Ali also circulated in which he accused the Pakistan Army of entering his home, looting belongings, and detaining seven people. Security forces, acting on credible intelligence, had raided Saboor Ali’s house to arrest a suicide bomber affiliated with Khariji militants who was reportedly present there. When the forces arrived, Saboor Ali and his associates allegedly opened fire from inside the house to prevent the suspect’s arrest. This has led to questions about why a militant was present at the home of a Police Peace Committee member. If there was no link to the militant network, the motive behind the resistance and firing during the arrest remains unclear. The incident has prompted debate over whether the name of the Police Peace Committee is being used to provide cover and support to militant elements. Authorities have stated that organizing private militias under the guise of peace committees, challenging the law, threatening state institutions, and defending facilitators of terrorism cannot be permitted. They argue that running a hate campaign against state institutions and turning arrests into controversies undermines efforts for genuine peace.
