The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Bill, 2026, which presents as a reform, is in reality a retreat from constitutional morality, judicial guidance and the hard-fought rights of one of the most marginalized communities in our country. The transgender community in India has endured centuries of exclusion, stigma and violence. Any law that claims to protect them must be expansive, inclusive and rooted in dignity. The most alarming feature of this Bill is the complete removal of the definition of a transgender person as it exists in the 2019 Act. This Amendment Bill exposes the government’s inadequate and insensitive understanding of the transgender community. This Bill is not only against human being. The decisions we make in this House will shape the lives of countless individuals. I urge the government to withdraw the Bill or at least refer it to the Parliamentary Standing Committee for detailed examination. : R.Sudha ji in Lok Sabha

Today, in Slavutych, in the north of our country, I met with the heads of communities of the northern regions – Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. It is very important to support our people here and strengthen our defenses, and that is exactly what we are doing. This concerns protective infrastructure – fortifications and other defensive measures – as well as strengthening the border, which will be reinforced further. It also concerns our Defense and Security Forces stationed in this direction – toward Chernihiv and Kyiv from the territory of neighboring Belarus, which Russia is eager to draw deeper into this war, and from Russia’s Bryansk region. We have the capability to strengthen our defenses. We also have the capability to act preventively with regard to Russian territory from which threats may emerge, and with regard to the de facto leadership of Belarus, which must stay on its toes – that is, clearly understand that there will be consequences if aggressive actions against Ukraine, against our people, are taken.

I am grateful to the esteemed Ulemas of Mangaluru for coming together in unity to organize a rally and protest against the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024 today. Their collective efforts in safeguarding community rights and standing for justice are truly commendable. I urge all Ulemas across the state to initiate a democratic struggle against this amendment, ensuring that the voices of the people are heard and their concerns are addressed. [WATCH] ANC UPLOADED NAMES ON TIME AND SOME WERE KICKED OUT DUE TO TECHNICAL GLITCHES “We did upload all of the candidates, it’s important to assure our members, supporters and our community that participated in the candidate selection process that took place. We did upload all of our candidates from all the nine provinces and regions on time. The 28th of August was the final day of submission of the final list, why it took place then is because the ANC undergoes an extensive process of vetting and interviewing and holding community meetings, all of this take time. We are very robust in how we’ve improved our candidate selection process. The very last portion of the batch is when the system started kicking them out. That was before 5 o’clock. We are not discussing here a lack of compliance on the part of the African National Congress with regards to meeting the deadline but a batch of names on the uploaded list that were kicked out. We are asking the IEC to consider for submission all those candidates who had already been captured in the IEC system but were kicked out. The second thing we are asking is to get to the bottom of why the very last batch was kicked out. We are asking for an investigation and this will get us to the bottom of the issue. This ties in with the question of are we fighting with the IEC? We are not. We respect and continue to have the full confidence in the integrity of the IEC run processes.
