Nigeria, Saudi Arabia sign Five-Year Defence, Military Cooperation Agreement The Federal Government and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen defence and military cooperation between both nations. The agreement, according to a statement by Special Assistant on media to the Minister of State, Defence, Ahmed Dan Wudil, will cover strategic collaboration across security, military training, intelligence sharing, defence production, and joint operations for sustainable security development. The pact was signed on behalf of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Mohammed Bello Matawalle, while Dr. Khaleed H. #UPDATE: Turkey to expand military training and security support for Somalia #Turkey will continue and expand its military training, consultancy and security support to #Somalia as part of efforts to enhance international stability, Defence Ministry spokesperson Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk said. Speaking at a weekly press briefing in #Ankara, Aktürk said Turkish support is focused on strengthening security and stability in Somalia. He noted that Turkey is providing assistance to protect drilling activities and the “Spaceport and Test Firing Range” under construction, as well as supporting counter-terrorism operations carried out by the Somali National Army. Aktürk said the Turkish Armed Forces will maintain a strong deterrent presence through ongoing support and deployments in Somalia. Naval elements operating in the Gulf of Aden, off the Somali coast and in the Arabian Sea have conducted port visits to #Mogadishu. A delegation from Turkey’s Naval Forces Command also recently visited Somalia to review ongoing activities and military cooperation between the two countries.

An important chapter in the history of the Defence Forces came to a close with the final ceremonial parade at St. Bricin’s Military Hospital. Since becoming St. Bricin’s Military Hospital in 1922, and with military medical services having operated on the site since 1790, it has played a central role in the care, training and development of generations of Medical Corps personnel. From supporting Defence Forces members at home to preparing medical personnel for service overseas, its contribution to military medicine has left an enduring legacy. While we bid farewell to this historic institution, the values of service, professionalism, compassion and excellence that defined St. Bricin’s will continue through the personnel of the Medical Corps as they transition to a modern, fit for purpose Military Medical Facility. The legacy of St. Bricin’s Military Hospital will remain an enduring part of the proud history of the Defence Forces. #ÓglaighnahÉireann

The event was attended by ex-CJCSCs and senior military officers of the tri-services. In his address, the outgoing CJCSC expressed gratitude to Allah Almighty for granting him the strength to perform his duties with dedication, professionalism and selfless devotion. He paid rich tributes to the Armed Forces for their unwavering sacrifices in the defence of the motherland and payed homage to the shuhada of the Armed Forces and their families. He highlighted that in the current geo-strategic environment strong national defence is an essential pillar of National Security and reaffirmed that the nation’s defence remains impregnable and our valiant officers and soldiers stand ever-ready to make it even more formidable. Earlier, upon his arrival at Joint Staff Headquarters, a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent presented 'Guard of Honour' to the outgoing CJCSC.

Together with Greenland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Vivian Motzfeldt, Danish Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen visited a hydroelectric power plant located about 50 kilometres south of Nuuk. The power plant supplies electricity to the capital and is therefore considered critical infrastructure. At present, Danish soldiers are training to guard the facility as part of the Danish Armed Forces’ increased military presence in Greenland. Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov states following today’s peace talks in Istanbul, that Ukraine and Russia have agreed to a “all-for-all” exchange of seriously wounded and ill prisoners of war, as well as all servicemembers aged 18–25. He adds that both sides have also agreed to begin exchanging the bodies of servicemembers 6,000 by 6,000.

This is perhaps one of the most candid acknowledgments from a KDP official regarding the depth of their ties with Turkey: Hoshyar Zebari states that the KDP is not only close to Turkey but saying, “We don’t hide anything from each other.” He goes on to praise Turkey’s treatment of civilians, claiming that it has shown more mercy and kindness than the PKK. When challenged by the reporter—who references conversations with local civilians—Zebari responds, “I know these locals better. Turkey isn’t preventing them from going about their daily lives or mistreating them”. Zebari also acknowledges direct intelligence cooperation, noting that the KDP knows the terrain better than the Turks. He adds that individuals arrested in the area are typically those collaborating with the PKK. When the report displays a map showing Turkish military bases scattered across the region, Zebari explains that their presence dates back to 1992, citing the threat posed by the PKK. He says that the KDP is fully aware of the extent of Turkey’s deployment, adding that he knows the location of Turkish posts “like the palm of my hand.” When pressed further about the scale of Turkey’s military footprint, Zebari responds bluntly: “You know what?
