A incredibly scary almost collision for UAL FLIGHT 325 this morning on final to #LAX A drone was spotted at altitude 4000ft inside the south final approach course. the ATC audio is here. This would have been absolutely catastrophic if they smashed. 09-07-26 #breaking

Four foot diameter would make it a fairly expensive toy. YouTube is full of video of people taking all manner of drones up well over 4000 feet.

Flew 2 LAX abt 10 yrs ago & almost hit a drone on final. It was a large drone, like used in agriculture, I've every seen. I looked @ the guy in the window seat behind me & we couldn't believe it. Wanted 2 talk 2 pilot on the way out but they kept the cockpit door closed.

how did someone even get a drone that close? heck when i fly my drone at our house, i get a pop up for class d airspace, and we're 6 miles (as the crow flies) from the closest airport. even then its just a small regional one, and 20 mils from the nearest major airport.

@OnDisasters The #FAA knows and selects to do nothing about unverified/not certified UAS pilots operating at/above 400ft with ZERO clearance. It should be a national security issue, but they’re too pussy to make it happen. @FAANews @NTSB @NTSB_Newsroom @SecDuffy is too pussy to do somethin

Did you see color, rotors, which way it was going? **UAL 325:** We thought it was a bird [at first]. It was so close, but maybe a quadcopter. **ATC:** Okay. I'm shocked the Met Police issued an awareness course to this driver. If I was not hyperaware, on a bike with hydraulic disk brakes, and extremely experienced at using said brakes, this would have resulted in a collision that would have left me with serious injuries.

A Bell 407 flying passengers for Blade out of JFK this evening reported a RC airplane at 500 feet. There is a RC airplane club located at Floyd Bennett Field just to the south west of Kennedy. This was not a drone and RC pilots are typically good at not flying above 400 feet AGL. Also, the NYPD helicopter unit is based there. Audio via ATC

Here is the full audio of the incident. You can see that American was told to line up and wait for landing traffic. They may have been looking at the Tradewind Aviation PC-12 (GOODSPEED82) that landed and then thought they were all good. The Delta flight was also told that traffic was holding runway 27 for them. It maybe time to reevaluate the rules of traffic departing and landing on intersecting runways at major airports. 🤷‍♂️ Audio via ATC

During a long delay on a plane. A little girl convinced the flight attendants to let her sing a Moana song. We would think this isn’t a big deal at all, however many of the passengers took to social media to voice their displeasure over this. With the delay, tensions were already high, they criticized the parents for letting her do this and the airline for thinking this was appropriate. I don’t see a big deal with this but then again I wasn’t delayed and irritated for hours on end when this happened, would you have been upset if this happened on your flight?
