🔥A massive fire has broken out inside al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City, tearing through the only surgical operations building left serving northern Gaza. The building had already been gutted of its health services and destroyed by the Israeli occupation, and now health workers and doctors are trying to... salvage whatever can still be repaired as the flames spread. Civil defense crews battle the blaze with worn-out equipment and the meager resources left to them, the occupation having blocked the entry of equipment and supplies into Gaza, leaving them to fight a fire of this scale with almost nothing. Hours in, the flames have still not been brought under control. The conditions, as the footage shows, are catastrophic, in what is the last functioning building of its kind in Gaza City, a hospital the occupation has reduced to ruins while denying it the means to recover. aymanalhesi (IG)show more

Nine hours to stop a fire in a residential building in Gaza because the Civil Defence doesn’t have any reliable equipment after Israeli occupation had destroyed everything and is still banning entry of any new equipment..

‼️The blaze spread rapidly inside the lower floors, filling the building with thick smoke and forcing prolonged operations that have now exceeded eight continuous hours. Palestinian Civil Defense crews in Gaza Governorate continue to battle an overwhelming and massive fire that erupted in the basement of the seven-story Al-Barqouni residential building on Al-Thawra Street at the Thai Junction. Firefighters are working under extremely difficult and hazardous conditions to prevent the flames from spreading to adjacent structures, while facing severe shortages of firefighting equipment, operational vehicles, and water tankers due to the Israeli occupation blockade. The scale and intensity of the fire have placed enormous strain on already depleted Civil Defense resources, and efforts remain ongoing to fully contain the blaze. mohammed_halabi24 mohammed_halabi242 (IG)

⚡️These incredible heroes at the Palestinian civil defense took the time to film this video for all of us to document how they extinguished a fire that in al-Awda Hospital's warehouse of medical supplies and medication. The fire was caused by an Israeli occupation bombing. "After coordinating with the other party through the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Civil Defense was able to enter northern Gaza, in response to the distress call from Al-Awda Hospital in the Tal al-Zaatar area. Note that the area is a red zone, as the occupation claims, and our entry into northern Gaza may endanger us." - Palestinian Civil Defense Worker Mohammed Qomsan

Urgent: Civil Defense in Gaza: - We have completely stopped our operations in North Gaza , and the situation there has become catastrophic, with citizens left without humanitarian services. - Israeli occupation forces present in the Sheikh Zayed area have arrested 5 of our personnel and taken them to an unknown location. - Israeli tanks targeted the only fire truck in the northern sector with shells and set it on fire. - Three of our personnel who were targeted by an Israeli drone in the Beit Lahiya project have lost communication, and their fate is unknown. #North_Gaza #Jabalia

Breaking: A graduation ceremony for hundreds of medical students in Gaza is now being held on the ruins of Al-Shifa Hospital, in a scene that also evokes the memory of hundreds of doctors and academics killed by the Israeli occupation during the genocide in Gaza.

🔴"Access to oxygen is not a medical luxury." With Israel blocking the entry of spare parts and medical supplies, Gaza's hospital engineers have been forced to salvage parts from damaged machinery just to keep equipment running. At Al-Shifa Hospital — once the largest medical facility in Gaza — engineers have managed to restore only around 15% of the hospital's equipment. "We now collect equipment damaged during the [Israeli] ground incursion and the bombing of the hospital … dismantle matching equipment of the same type, salvage and repair the parts, and then reassemble the equipment.,” Ahmed Younis, an engineer at Al-Shifa, told Drop Site. “But the equipment is not operating at the level of efficiency it is supposed to.” As of June 2026, WHO reported that the principal barriers to health facilities being rehabilitated in the Gaza Strip were a lack of medical equipment, affecting 97% of facilities, and shortages of medicines, affecting over 80% of facilities. The Ministry of Health has also issued an urgent warning that Gaza’s few remaining oxygen plants are operating beyond capacity and breaking down. In parallel with the decimation of Gaza’s health care system, Israel is continuing to severely restrict the number of Palestinians allowed out of Gaza to seek treatment abroad. Some 300 Palestinians have died waiting for medical evacuations since the “ceasefire” went into effect, according to the Health Ministry, with 20,000 patients waiting for authorization and only around 2,000 being allowed to cross so far.

"Three women with severed arms and two men wounded in the head and legs, all were severed." These were the words from the scene of the Israeli occupation massacre at Burj al-Moataz, a five-story residential building packed with displaced families in the heart of al-Rimal neighborhood in Gaza City, where airstrikes targeted residential apartments and set the building ablaze near a wedding celebration. The strike hit the first floor, while women and children remain trapped on the upper floors as fires continue to burn through the building. Civil defense teams are working to bring the fires under control and search through the flames and rubble to retrieve the bodies of martyrs and pull survivors from inside the apartments, as witnesses report a large number of martyrs and wounded. wadeaa_.9 (IG)

🚨BREAKING | All civil defense vehicles in Gaza and North Gaza have stopped operating due to the lack of spare parts and maintenance. Only one fire truck remains in service. In the southern governorates, Central, Khan Younis and Rafah, 3 out of 6 fire trucks and 4 out of 6 ambulances have also been forced to shut down. This collapse comes at a time when Israeli occupation attacks are escalating and civilians are trapped under bombardment, especially as Israel restricts what it calls the “humanitarian zone.” Civil defense warns of major disasters and calls on the United Nations to pressure Israel to allow entry of spare parts and rescue equipment before the situation worsens further.
