A terrible approach. Creating a bottleneck like that will create turbulent flow in the system. Depending on the system, it could/will cause other, way more expensive issues.

Bottleneck... pressure will build up until it dislodges the glues inside and everything pops. There's hose connectors you can get at home depo.

Just warm up one end to dilate and insert the other end in, applying some glue. This way, you won't have to reduce the hose size or create a bottleneck to the liquid flow.
