So instead of telling the truth, they hired a PR firm to write the medical journal for them, to ghostwrite the article and put a positive spin on it, and then that was submitted to the journal, and it was published in 2001. And it wasn't long before the regulators in the US and also in Europe discovered that the drug actually was increasing the risk of suicidal ideation. It was doing the exact opposite of what the drug was meant to do. And so they put out a warning saying that this drug showed no efficacy in children and adolescents, but the drug continued to be marketed off-label…because the prominent journal had published this peer-reviewed paper. GSK purchased thousands of pre-prints and sent them out to all their representatives, and then they went to doctors, giving free samples, saying this drug is safe and effective for children. This man applied for a job and was hired but told them he could start for 6 weeks because he wanted to do some traveling for leisure. But during the hiring process he had 72 hours to do a drug test which he failed to do. They cancelled his job offer and he feels it wasn’t because of the missed drug test, so what is he implying the reasoning behind it was then? Fresh out of college, that insurance gig was the first one I applied for and was hired for. Up until then I never had to take a drug test but then again why would I have? I didn’t do drugs on a normal basis anyways. But my best friends were pot heads. On the day before my drug test I was smoking a cigarette and my friend asked for a hit and I gave it to him. The other friend passed me a joint and I took it thinking it was my cigarette and I took a long dragged and almost coughed up a lung. I panicked, I just had taken a hit of pot when I had to be drug tested for a new job the next day. I went to the testing and did it, I got a call a few days later from HR confirming I passed and I told her I was worried because my friends smoke and I thought it would show up in my system as a second hand application. She said nah don’t worry, we only test for the hard stuff anyways. That part I didn’t know, but after that I saw my other buddies pass their work related tests too so maybe it was more widespread than I knew.

Our rentosertib (novel target that has never been in clinical trials before we picked it using AI, novel molecule designed using true generative AI with the published broadly used AI platform, targeting fibrosis and biology of aging) entered Phase III trial in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. This is a major milestone in the life of every drug hunter - the ultimate test. To my knowledge, in our AI drug discovery industry, no other company took the drug for a novel target with a novel molecule into Phase III before so it is a big milestone for the entire industry. Of course, at Insilico we are no longer dependent on this program - we have 13 INDs and many clinical trials are ongoing internally and run by partners.
