they were so generous towards him and he completely spit in their face i’m astonished

Different companies, different points of views. Rockstar is not the same company from the 3D GTA era. Now they hate mods because they’re obsesed on making people to play their shitty Online mode.

except it isnt a cyberpunk mod but a vr framework that works with a bunch of games, one of them happens to be cyberpunk.

You ALL are under the DELUSION that modding is some sort of "right"... LOL Newsflash: It's companies TOLERATING IT & thus giving you an IMPLIED license or, if under guidelines, an EXPLICIT LICENSE AGREEMENT that YOU as a modder HAVE to abide by. Whether you all like it or not.🤭

@Wizards:

I hate paid mods but I hate Take Two more

Didn't Rockstar make Cfx Marketplace for Mods as a Paywall. If a person makes a mod they should be allowed to charge some money but when a company does it yall dont do anything about it

Take2 literally enforces that mods are malware, they’re a bunch of moronic fossils who think any modifying program is hostile in nature.

I have never seen the full gif before

The problem with people defending the modder in this case is that CDPR actually tried to work with him. CDPR isn't exactly the bad guy. Instead, the modder wanted to paywall the plugin, and CDPR wanted it free. The plugin was being sold on Patreon.

Rockstargames & Co gonna let greedyness destroy them!? What made them successful in their early years?

"you want to play our games even more? we cant let that happen now can we, chat nuke his house and DMCA strike him aswell"

They don't even care if the "mod" in question is a simple 100% save file for lost and the damned dlc, Rockstar treats every mod like it's stealing billions of dollars from their company.

I mean, I agree that's a shit way to respond, but you have to admit that effectively porting the content of one game to another is a bit different from making a VR mod

CD Projekt Red is a PC developer primarily, so their mindset is the same as that of PC gaming community. Rockstar is a console developer, so they're afraid of embracing PC gaming's traditions. In a way, Rockstar is outdated and still stuck in 2008 in terms of thinking.

There is a big difference between making a mod for GTA V and copying a bunch of stuff from GTA IV to GTA V without permission.

The takeaway from this is that modders need to read the fine print better and companies reach out regarding these matters to modders. CDPR made efforts repeatedly, but the modder stonewalled them. He wanted the money first, not the realization he was on their turf.

Did CDPR really do that? Man they’re amazing. Fuck paid mods

CDPR didn't demand he make the mod free. they asked him to do it and suggested he ask for donations instead. the modder took it down. also it's important to know that in order to make that mod, he had to use their actual code to make it work with vr

issue there is that they dont *own* the assets for Liberty City

Luke Ross is a greedy fuck

Wouldn’t this be more comparable to probably the biggest online mod ever that instead of shutting down they purchased and support?

I hate rockstar but in their defense there's a ton of legal liability in that situation

The kindest interpretation we could give to them about this is that they intend to do a full GTA4 Remaster. And there is some reason to believe that it’s likely… But who am I kidding, they’re probably just being assholes.

Cyberpunk 2077 VR functioned as a "framework" or DLL injector, adding code at runtime to change camera behavior and render a 3D stereoscopic view for VR headsets. No stolen assets were used & included no intellectual property or base code from the game itself. Idiot

If you know anything about rockstar modding scene you would know that rockstar has always blocked assets from their other games getting ported. This has been a thing since the "3d universe" era aka two decades if not more.

Just another reason why Cyberpunk>GTA in every way

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Rockstar and Take Two are so detached 🥀

😂

This is why modding communities never trust publishers lol 😭

it's never rockstar, only take2

I dont know why these AAA studios have to be such asses when it comes to modding. I believe that should be something you should charge for if you spend time bringing new experiences for players which in turns makes people buy the game for mods.
