My mother worked nights. When I was a kid, my father made sure we maintained ABSOLUTE Silence when she came home to sleep so she could get her 8 hours. We weren't to go and bother her for any reason until she got up. He had faults, myriad, but he loved his wife like no one else.

I pretty much did that in my marriage. Now we are divorced. I have sole custody of the kids. She pays me child support, and she is not allowed unsupervised visitation. Take it for what it’s worth.
