NOT A SINGLE ADMINISTRATOR WAS FIRED. NOT A SINGLE ADMINISTRATOR WENT TO JAIL. New Hanover County Schools has now paid nearly $7 MILLION for letting chemistry teacher Michael Kelly se*ually abuse MORE THAN 30 CHILDREN over 26 years. During Kelly's 2019 sentencing, the prosecutor revealed that Kelly told police the SCHOOL DISTRICT had already investigated him for the abuse... ...and CLEARED HIM. Without EVER contacting law enforcement. The NC Attorney General opened a FOUR-YEAR investigation into the district. He confirmed: "Administrators failed to protect children." ...but the statute of limitations had run out. Every single school administrator kept their job and wasn't even charged.
