Great meeting with my Belgian colleague and friend, Theo Francken, today at the Italian Ministry of Defense. We spoke frankly and in a spirit of friendship about cooperation in the defense sector, including the industrial dimension. We discussed the future of Europe, the threats it faces and concerns to the north, east, and south, the future of NATO, and the need to work together across all areas related to the security and defense of our citizens.” We discussed also defence industrial cooperation, including Belgian F-35 production in Italy and pilot training. Our experience is already being used in the Middle East and the Gulf. We are improving defense against “shahed” drones, and we believe this should also be done in Europe. Today, for this purpose, we initiated a Drone Deal with Norway and signed a Joint Declaration on Enhanced Defense and Security Cooperation. Now our teams will work out the details. We also focused on our joint production projects and cooperation priorities for this year, and not only in defense. We continue to work together with partners to strengthen our countries. I personally thank Jonas, Norway, and all Norwegians for their military and energy support for Ukraine, for strengthening our air defense, and for their readiness to continue support for the PURL initiative. We feel your support and are sincerely grateful for it.

Yesterday, together with all our partners, and today in a bilateral format, we discussed expectations for the meeting in Alaska and possible prospects. We also discussed in considerable detail the security guarantees that can make peace truly durable if the United States succeeds in pressing Russia to stop the killings and engage in genuine, substantive diplomacy. It is important that, within the framework of the Coalition of the Willing, we should all be able to achieve effective formats for security cooperation. We also discussed the continuation of support programs for our army and our defense industry. Under any scenario, Ukraine will maintain its strength. Keir and I also talked about such mechanisms for weapons supplies as the PURL program, and I urged the UK to join. Of course, we also discussed our One Hundred Year Partnership Agreement. Ukraine is preparing to ratify it in August, and as a result, we will be able to hold an expanded Ukraine–UK meeting. A separate and important item on the agenda was investment in our drone production. We have significant potential to increase production volumes and urgently need financing for this. I was in Nasarawa at the invitation of my friend and brother, Prof. John Kennedy Opara, to tour his CSS farm facility. The CSS farm stands as yet another testament to what our society can achieve when we harness the power of agriculture. Much of what CSS is doing aligns with our administration’s aspirations for Anambra. We are already exploring potential partnerships and opportunities with CSS. We believe that our society becomes stronger when we all farm to feed. With our ongoing massive palm and coconut revolution and our policy on regenerative agriculture, Ndi Anambra will soon lead the way in harnessing the full potential of agriculture to end endemic poverty and hunger in the country. Anambra is on the rise, and will continue to win!
