A quick-thinking 999 operator has been praised for supporting a woman who reported that she had been assaulted by her partner whilst on holiday. Alone in a foreign country, the victim reached out to us via Instagram and was brought to safety on her return to the UK.

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has paid a visit to the woman who was physically assaulted by her husband in a viral video at Ofankor in the Greater Accra Region. According to the victim, she has been separated from her husband for the past five months. She explained that her husband contacted her, claiming that one of their children was ill, only for her to be physically assaulted upon arrival. Her husband has since been remanded into police custody, together with two of his siblings, by an Accra Magistrate Court.
