#WATCH | Uttarakhand: The sighting of a Bengal tiger once again in the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary, located at an altitude of around 8,000 feet, has raised concerns among the Forest Department, tourists and residents living in nearby areas. A video showing the tiger’s movement in Binsar has gone viral on social media. The Forest Department has also confirmed the presence of the tiger in the sanctuary. Following reports of the tiger’s presence, the Forest Department has stepped up surveillance in the Binsar area. The elephant was constantly monitored as it emerged from the forest every night. In this situation, the elephant was anaesthetised at around 2 am on October 17 and was brought under control. In a meticulously planned operation, the Tamil Nadu Forest Department relocated a wild tusker from O’Valley in the Gudalur region of the Nilgiris, a hotspot of recurring human elephant conflict. After weeks of monitoring and rehabilitation, the elephant was translocated somewhere in the Kalakad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve, a pristine habitat ideal for elephants.
