Regardless if he was going to be the back up, a lot of his growth needed to come through mechanics. That takes physical reps. Delaying any amount puts stress on the organization right now, and this camp/preseason is the most opportunity to get reps and grow fast.

I'm with ya. The reps are priceless. I know he grinds so I believe in him still. But getting used to the game speed this year and pounding out reps in practice was going to go a long way. Delayed.
