Feels like JJ McCarthy will be the Vikings starter this year w/ Sam Darnold not re-signing per multiple sources. He had a debut for the ages…Vikings fans should be excited. Let’s see if KOC can do it again. All 22 QB Breakdown: JJ McCarthy

He threw a pic just prior to that. He won’t have 13 games with a 100 rating ( darnold). He also WONT win 14 games

Debut in… a preseason game?! Against the asshat Raiders? Can you stop overhyping QBs in a desperate attempt for a victory lap?

Someone will regret signing him to a long term high dollar contract.

Debut for the ages?? He threw a pic to the first-team Defense of the Raiders. Then he started playing well against the third-stringers who are no doubt bagging groceries this second.

We just need all starting QBs to get jobs soon so the Broncos can re-sign Zach Wilson. He is understandably holding out for a starting job. I wish him well but selfishly want him to stay in Denver to back up Nix.

I keep hearing the Vikings are trying to keep him in Minnesota

The Vikings are already 9-2 with Sam Darnold at QB Imagine what this team is going to be like with JJ McCarthy at QB. Dangerous.

🚨RUMOR🚨 The #Vikings are not sold on JJ McCarthy per Ross Tucker While on the Purple Daily, he had this to say about the second year QB “No matter what the Vikings say about JJ McCarthy…they wanted Darnold back…they wanted Daniel Jones back. They were offering these guys over 10 million bucks a year to come and be their quarterback…So they have some doubt about McCarthy”

I’m already so sick of these JJ McCarthy trade discussions. The Vikings have no reason at all to move him even if they DID extend Sam Darnold. KOC has already said he is the franchise QB. These stupid trade talks need to be put to bed.

JJ McCarthy is NOT a NFL caliber QB. The NFL is just too fast for him. Not even Kevin O’Connell can save him. Absolutely awful, the #Vikings should have kept San Darnold.

“I've talked to people on the roster, hey, was this a competition? Would JJ McCarthy actually have beaten out Sam Darnold? Absolutely not. The answer is a resounding no.” Chase Daniel on Minnesota Vikings QB JJ McCarthy Daniel breaks down the two sides of the Rodgers/Vikings saga on Scoop City with Dianna Russini.

Justin Jefferson has averaged 1.99 fantasy points per target (elite) from every QB in his career not named JJ McCarthy. I’m confident Kyler Murray will be the Vikings starter and I’m very confident that Jettas is bouncing back this year.

JJ McCarthy was a 1st round pick and is now a Starter for the Minnesota #Vikings. JJ McCarthy is pure ass. Won a national championship with the best defense and rb duo in CFB history. He completed 10 passes. No TDs There is NOTHING u can do or say to make me Believe Will Howard is not the Next Franchise QB for the #Steelers. There is NOTHING JJ McCarthy does better than Will Howard.

If/when JJ McCarthy demands a trade, Mike Florio says the Vikings should trade him to the Chargers so he can regroup under Jim Harbaugh. Florio also questions JJ's ability to accept a backup role, rewinding the clock to March 2025, when "reliable sources" didn't know who was calling the shots in MN, also noting that "if [the Vikings] brought back Sam Darnold or Daniel Jones last year, they were going to have a major problem with JJ McCarthy..." -- PFT Live

A rational human: "JJ McCarthy is only 21 years old. Sam Darnold was probably going to be the starter anyway. It's not ideal but everything will be okay." Me:

From NFL GameDay Kickoff: While there are still questions about #Vikings QB JJ McCarthy, the argument can be made that his best-case scenario is answering them in Minnesota this year.

Mike Florio reported on a recent episode of ProFootballTalk Live that KOC was "overruled" during the Vikings' 2025 offseason QB search -- that he wanted Darnold, Jones and Rodgers but didn't have a choice but to role with JJ McCarthy and Sam Howell. "As I understand it, O'Connell got overruled. He wanted to have Darnold or Jones or Aaron Rodgers, and he got overruled. They said no to Rodgers. Rodgers wanted to play for them last year, and they said no. They're sticking with JJ McCarthy."
