I made a word picker about two years ago. It turns out that BIP-39 is a bit more complicated than that. There is a checksum involved. Long story short, I have a much better seed phrase generator now. Have a look!

Only 3 & 4-letter words? Nah. This is a good v0.1 but it can't be v1.0 yet, need to iterate a v0.2 that includes these words all the way up to 7-8 letters per word. 2048 is slim, need at least 16384 (if not 65536 or MORE, English vocab is HUGE). (+Microplastic is unhealthy.)

What if I take a large book like the dictionary or the bible, close my eyes, turn to 10 random pages and pick the 17th word I see from each page? I feel like that has a higher entropy rate.

Unfortunately, a lot of hardware wallet designers insist on supporting only the ill-designed BIP39 (or SLIP39) that require a "checksum" that has NO benefit and prevent people from easily make a mnemonic by explicit manual means. Abolish this checksum. Forward to HW makers.

This is the core issue most people ignore. Hardware wallets are only as strong as the entropy behind the seed. If the randomness is compromised, everything else collapses. Physical, offline generation still sets the highest bar for real self-custody.

Interesting approach.. but how are you handling the BIP39 checksum? If all 12 or 24 words are selected randomly from the tiles, most generated phrases should fail checksum validation. Or should someone keep drawing until they happen to land on a valid phrase?

There's no reason to do all this. Just make a random number generator that grabs the last X digits of your system time, if it's not between the starting and ending numbers you assign, it tries again. In this case, last 4 digits between 1 and 2048. Happens only when you activate.

This slight reduces entropy as the word chosen can not be chosen again. Plus the last word is not the right checksum.
