Every gear change from the SMG-III gearbox adds a bark of mechanical aggression, making the car feel alive even at idle. The titanium valves, semi-dry sump, and ultra-short stroke allowed it to rev like a race engine. No turbos, no filters, just raw combustion turned into music. BMW has never made anything like it again.

A technical breakdown of the IMSA Nissan 300ZX. An extremely legendary Nissan racing machine that competed in IMSA GTO, GTS, Le Mans, and even briefly in the JGTC GT500 class. I understand the backlash Z32s get hard to work on, small engine compartment, unreliable, yada yada. I don’t know why, but I really like this chassis. Especially when you see a properly modified one, it genuinely looks like a supercar or an exotic from that era. To the untrained eye, you would never think it was an entry level to mid range sports car.

Then the engine, 3.6 Mezger flat-six that just wants to rev to 8200 RPM. Loud, mechanical and full of life this car feels raw a lot less than a modern GT3. Lightweight, direct steering and no filters. Compared to the 997, this feels more alive and looks more raw still. The headlights are still controversial and the interior is basic, ride is stiff too, but that’s part of it, you expect a car made for racing to handle comfortably? It’s about driving, racing and that’s what gives it character.
