A very useful tool for disaster recovery

This is absolutely incredible and truly life-saving innovation! The RoBoa, with its soft-bodied, 'vine-like' design, sounds like a revolutionary breakthrough for navigating disaster zones. Its ability to snake through debris and locate trapped survivors is precisely what's needed in urgent rescue missions. What a phenomenal achievement by the students at ETH Zurich! Are there plans for its real-world deployment soon, @lukas_m_ziegler?

🚨 BREAKING: Filics has secured €13.5 million in fresh funding to scale its autonomous pallet moving robots. Founded in 2021 by engineers from the Technical University of Munich, Filics has developed a unique robot pairing that autonomously lifts and moves pallets using minimal floor space. Each of their units can carry up to 1.2 tons and maneuver with the speed of 1.2 m/s. The system's autonomous mobility allows it to drive completely underneath and through pallets placed on the floor—without requiring turning space—making it a standout solution for high-density warehouses. Future plans include adapting the technology for autonomous truck loading in under five minutes.

Actuators eat up 30-50% of a humanoid robot's BOM cost. Mass adoption? Not at these prices. This is one of the most persistent challenges in robotics, but @IMSystemsNL may have cracked the code with a novel drive. To understand it, we need to dive into the world of drives & transmission, with all their demands and trade-offs. Shoutout to @MarwaEldiwiny and @GoingBallistic5 for the original video.

Noetix N2 endures some serious abuse but keeps walking.

FWIW, this is probably the most performant motor I’ve made so far. 80% more copper fill volume and half the air gap compared to motors I’ve shipped previously. Do you want this motor? I’ll throw in a production grade motor as replacement when my factory is set up
