Has Zimra lost confidence in its office at Beitbridge Border Post …..? Barely an hour after leaving Beitbridge towards Masvingo, Zimra is impounding buses to reassess duty declared on goods. Buses are held at a disused railway station in Masvingo and sometimes drivers and passengers are there for days and they complain of hunger, lack of ablution facilities, cold and disrupted programmes. Yesterday buses were again impounded to the station and passengers accused Zimra of pushing its inefficiencies at the border down on innocent travellers. The passengers accused Zimra of treating them like foreigners. A Muslim man was left bitter recently after Police barred him from entering the High Court in Masvingo on account of his religious dress. Adams Asipu (78) who had travelled from Harare to attend a relative’s bail case was dressed in a thawb, an ankle-length garment with long sleeves, like a robe. He was chased away from the courtroom in the presence of a Masvingo Mirror reporter. Asipu was approached by a Police officer as he sat in the reception area and told not to enter the courtroom. He later entered Courtroom A and a Police officer followed and ejected him. He had to sit in his car throughout the hearing of the case. See full story on.... A 32-year-old woman was killed after the motorcycle on which she was travelling lost control while trying to avoid a pothole at Ananthanagar near Hebbagodi in Anekal taluk on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The deceased, Medha, a native of Kerala, was working at the Provident Fund office in Electronic City. She was travelling as a pillion rider with her friend Ajay Guru when the accident occurred. According to the information available, a car travelling ahead of the motorcycle suddenly applied brakes while attempting to avoid a pothole. The motorcycle rider reportedly lost control of the vehicle and Medha, who was seated on the pillion, fell onto the road. At the same time, a goods vehicle coming from behind ran over her neck. She suffered severe injuries and died on the spot. The accident triggered anger among local residents, who staged a protest at the spot and blocked the road. Residents alleged that several roads in and around Electronic City were in poor condition and riddled with potholes. They demanded immediate action from the authorities to repair the damaged roads and prevent further accidents. Residents also lit candles and paid tribute to Medha. The incident has once again highlighted concerns over road safety and the condition of roads in the rapidly developing Electronic City-Anekal corridor. Hebbagodi police visited the spot and conducted an inspection. A case has been registered at the Electronic City traffic police station, and further investigation is under way.

Gutu Pastors’ Fraternity recently spent hours praying and cleansing a black spot near Tachi Business Center, 14km from Mpandawana along Gutu-Roy Road where scores of people were killed by accidents. Pastors should have noticed on the day that Traffic Safety Council Of Zimbabwe Ministry of Transport - Zimbabwe Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Zimbabwe Republic Police there are no warning signs of hazardous sharp curves at that stretch of the road and there is perennially tall grass on the roadsides that allow stray cattle to cross unnoticed by motorists. Some of the problems we burden the Lord with in our prayers are man-made and come from our lethargy as a people. Ministry of Transport - Zimbabwe go erect warning signs at the sharp curves and cut down the tall grass. You can also add shoulders at the sharp curves and half the problems would be solved. One of the victims of a fatal accident who died last year was former Hwiru Primary School head, Jonah Takabvirwakare. Gutu Pastors’ Fraternity recently spent hours praying and cleansing a black spot near Tachi Business Center, 14km from Mpandawana along Gutu-Roy Road where scores of people were killed by accidents. Pastors should have noticed on the day that Traffic Safety Council Of Zimbabwe Ministry of Transport - Zimbabwe Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Zimbabwe Republic Police there are no warning signs of hazardous sharp curves at that stretch of the road and there is perennially tall grass on the roadsides that allow stray cattle to cross unnoticed by motorists. Some of the problems we burden the Lord with in our prayers are man-made and come from our lethargy as a people. Ministry of Transport - Zimbabwe go erect warning signs at the sharp curves and cut down the tall grass. You can also add shoulders at the sharp curves and half the problems would be solved. One of the victims of a fatal accident who died last year was former Hwiru Primary School head, Jonah Takabvirwakare. What a circus…? Hearing on Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3 ended prematurely at Kwekwe Theatre in Kwekwe after Melody Chingarande, the only person who opposed the Bill was booed and kicked out of the venue. Sympathisers escorted Chingarande from the venue to Kwekwe Central Police Station as she faced threats from hooligans. The hall was packed with Zanu PF supporters bussed from outside the city.
