Has Zimra lost confidence in its office at Beitbridge Border Post …..? Barely an hour after leaving Beitbridge towards Masvingo, Zimra is impounding buses to reassess duty declared on goods. Buses are held at a disused railway station in Masvingo and sometimes drivers and passengers are there for days... and they complain of hunger, lack of ablution facilities, cold and disrupted programmes. Yesterday buses were again impounded to the station and passengers accused Zimra of pushing its inefficiencies at the border down on innocent travellers. The passengers accused Zimra of treating them like foreigners. Last week, ZRP Officer Henry Kwejo testified in court that a whole consignment of mbanje worth US$22k passed right through the border post and it was only impounded in Masvingo. They take days becoz they would have tried to smuggle goods. Most Zimbabweans coming from South Africa are smuggling goods. If you declare all your stuff,it won't take one hour to check a bus. Welldone ZIMRA. We only one Zimbabwe.

They do as they please because civilians do not have any rights. This is greedy by Zimra officials pinning down innocent hustlers. They are building mansions n buying luxury cars from the earnings of thievery in uniform backed by ZANUPf police and army solidified by the courts

people should just declare their stuff adequately at the border , trying to smuggle goods in will only result in more losses. The roads are full of these guys

To reduce time spent in these raids Zimra must use a sample following Cochran's sampling formula. If a bus has 70 travellers, a random sample of 15 passengers can prove if one declared everything or not. If one colludes to hide paying duty, both become guilty

The way to go Zimra Buses must not pick up random passengers at the border with huge consignments
