Our mainstream culture is conflict-avoidant. There is the assumption that the less conflict there is in a relationship, the better it is. I disagree. If there is real intimacy, conflict is actually unavoidable. Because we are all different. The real indicator of health in a relationship isn’t the lack of conflict, it is the quality of our repair. It is the level of authenticity we can bring. That requires knowing how to be with conflict and disagreement, how to hold nuance. And it also requires practicing the art of repairing. Are we willing to show up and repair what we broke? Do we have the skills and capacity required for that? Avoiding conflict means avoiding truth and therefore avoiding real intimacy. This work is essential and transcends the personal. If we aren't capable of dealing with conflict in our own personal lives, it is no wonder that the world is in the state it is, where the most prevalent conflict management strategy is escalation.

It is proof of, despite our ethnic proximity and shared Christian faith, just how difficult it is for tribes to live in peace. It was hard enough with the native populations of the British Isles. It is impossible to have a cohesive society with all the foreign colonies we have imported into our midst. We are not at the start of this experiment. We are in the middle of it, and it is going horribly. It has to end.

In light of the names Anneke Lucas mentioned, like the former Canadian prime minister who is dead now, but is the father of the current one. It is being shared all over the internet now. Canadian accounts are posting this, and it is getting lots of attention. This is also a wake-up call for Canada. The US is not the only negotiation. We have ongoing negotiations with the EU, we already concluded a deal with the UK, and we are talking with other countries also. If we can't compete in America, we may have to diversify our markets outside of America. We are not out of options. If America is completely unreasonable with its demands, we have to move elsewhere. That is the strength of India; we are not a totally export-dependent economy like China. We have a good and strong domestic market. We must give strong support to our negotiators to find the best deal possible. If a good deal is not possible, we may have to walk away..."

Only around 14% of menopausal women in the UK currently are prescribed HRT, which would be fine if only 14% of women wanted to take HRT but we know this isn’t the case. I constantly hear from so many women who aren’t being given a choice and are unable to have their HRT prescribed for them both in the UK and other countries. This is not right when we know HRT is safe and beneficial for the majority of menopausal women and the guidelines are clear it is a first line treatment to manage menopausal symptoms for most women. In areas of deprivation this number is much lower - in some areas only 2% of menopausal women are prescribed HRT and these women are more likely to be prescribed antidepressants, statins and blood pressure lowering treatments. Also they are more likely to have chronic diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, clinical depression and osteoporosis - taking HRT can reduce the incidence of these diseases as well as improving symptoms. A lot of the work I do is about giving women the confidence to be better advocates for themselves and I hope by keeping this conversation going we can help more women access the care and treatment they want and deserve.

OPTICAL AIDS CAUSE 28 DAY MONTHS? NCS does not recommend that we use optical aids for a moonsighting system in Britain for many reasons. The primary reason is that we are seeking a unified solution, and unity is in the sunnah - local, naked eye sightings. Not everybody believes that optical aids are permissible, but naked eye sightings are wholly uncontroversial. Another issue is that optical aids would lead to more and more examples of the moon being “seen” a day early, and out of phase, on the 28th of a lunar month. This has ALREADY HAPPENED to those who use optical aids in the UK - yet has never happened to naked eye moonsighters for over 100 months. Whilst there are procedures from the sunnah of what to do if you were to see a moon on the 28th, we cannot really justify asking people to end their fast a day early on the 28th because of a moon which is invisible to the eye and only visible through optical aids. Hence our stance. Remember - we ourselves use optical aids - and had them on our livestream. We are experienced in them, and it is from our experience we share with you that we have found that it would leave to problems. In any case why are you in a rush to end Ramadan, using technology, and away from the sunnah?

We are going to build this... A new campus for our private, Christian, Afrikaans institution of higher learning, OnsAkademia, architecturally inspired by Rome, Athens and Jerusalem. Despite all the reasons to despair in South Africa, the Afrikaners have learned that the way forward is through community institutions, community involvement, rediscovering who we are and where we come from, and knowing where we're going. Our culture sprouts from Western civilisation and our future is in Africa. We have lived here for nearly four hundred years. It is here, in Africa, where we have developed our unique culture, language and history. Our attachment and commitment to Africa is the reason why we named our language, Afrikaans, and our nation, the Afrikaners, after the continent. Our community will have a future, not because we're asking the government to take care of us, but because we are creating one ourselves, regardless of whether the government is on board or not. Against this backdrop, we seek mutual recognition and respect with other communities, and we are eager to work together on issues of mutual agreement with whoever is interested, even if there are also some issues on which we disagree.
