Robots might learn better from video than from language! 📼 Most Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models learn what to do from text, but still struggle with how things move in the real world. That makes them data-hungry and slow to train. mimic video takes a different route. Instead of grounding robot control in text, it grounds it in video, using large pre-trained video models that already capture physical motion and dynamics. The idea is straightforward: let the video model handle “what will happen next,” and let a smaller control model focus only on turning that visual plan into robot actions. The result is big gains in practice. Robots trained this way need 10× less data, converge twice as fast, and perform better on both simulated benchmarks and real bimanual manipulation tasks. Most robotics teams can make a robot move… very few can make it work every day in the real world! @roboforce_inc was just featured in Jensen Huang’s GTC keynote, not for a demo but for a robot they claim is already working in the field. Their system, TITAN, is built for industrial environments: ✅ 40 kg dual-arm payload ✅ millimeter-level precision ✅ 8 hours runtime ✅ early pilots in energy, logistics, and manufacturing They call it Physical AI: The focus is on getting robots to do the kind of labor that still depends on people: repetitive, risky, and physical. IMO, what stands out isn’t the specs. It’s the claim of 11,000 robot orders❗️ If even a fraction of that turns into real deployments, it would make RoboForce one of the most widely scaled robot platforms in the world!!?? The open question is whether this shift from prototype to production is real or just the next phase of robotics storytelling. It looks very promising to me. It’s also interesting how their founder openly pushes back against the humanoid trend, arguing for wheels over legs in real industrial settings. Foundation models are enough to solve robotics! Unfortunately, this is not true. We keep hearing that Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models struggle because of the gap between static training and the dynamic real world. A German startup (Sereact) just released a solution that bridges this gap perfectly. They are introducing a new paradigm called Interactive RL Policy Patching. It's a distributed framework that allows robots to self-learn from human corrections without needing full retraining. When a robot fails, a human operator provides a brief "patch" or demonstration. The system then uses online off-policy reinforcement learning to update the behavior instantly. This is powered by a massive foundation model trained on hundreds of millions of interactions from over 100 deployed robot stations. The best part is the distributed parameter synchronization... When one robot learns a fix, the update is published fleet-wide... meaning the entire swarm gets smarter from a single human intervention. They are already proving this on complex manipulation tasks like shoe unboxing and screw sorting, drastically reducing the data needed to handle edge cases. You hold it like a tool. Show the task. The robot learns. No teleoperation. No expensive hardware. No robot-specific data. Stanford open-sourced everything → hardware, code, datasets. I am stocked to announce that I won the OpenAI Developers Codex x Mollie Hacka Worldwide Hackathon in Paris. 60+ builders, every one of us working solo, one day to ship. I built mine around a single question: who gets to own intelligence? The default answer is scary. You hand your data to a handful of labs, they train the model, they own it, and you rent back a thin slice of what your own data made possible. That is the bargain on the table today. I do not accept it. So I built Lensemble: a Tapestry like distributed training platform for JEPA based World Models. What does it enable: World Models that a community improves together, keeps sovereign, and co-owns. Two bets sit underneath it. First, the paradigm. Language models predict the next token. Powerful for text, a dead end for the physical world. A robot does not need to autocomplete sentences, it needs to predict what happens next in the world. That is what JEPA does: it learns by predicting representations instead of pixels or tokens. I am convinced world models are the most underrated paradigm in AI right now, and the closest thing we have to a ChatGPT moment for robotics. Second, the politics. Your raw trajectories never leave your machine. Each participant trains locally against a shared protocol and ships only an update, never the data. A federated round folds those updates into one shared world model, a LeWorldModel based model, and the gain is measured, not claimed: a 12k-parameter adapter on a frozen backbone, held-out prediction error down about 12 percent, the model measurably less surprised by the world. Then the upside is split by contribution weight, so the people who improved the model own a share of what it earns. This is the thesis behind Project Tapestry, the AI Alliance and Yann LeCun's push for federated, sovereign frontier AI, carried into world models and robotics. Call it Tapestry for the physical world. All of it built solo, in a single day, with Codex as my pair the whole way. Intelligence the world improves, and the world owns. That is the future I want for my kids, and the one I will keep building.

I’m excited to introduce DexMimicGen, a massive-scale synthetic data generator that enables a humanoid robot to learn complex skills from only a handful of human demonstrations. Yes, as few as 5! DexMimicGen addresses the biggest pain point in robotics: where do we get data? Unlike with LLMs, where vast amounts of texts are readily available, you cannot simply download motor control signals from the internet. So researchers teleoperate the robots to collect motion data via XR headsets. They have to repeat the same skill over and over and over again, because neural nets are data hungry. This is a very slow and uncomfortable process. At NVIDIA, we believe the majority of high-quality tokens for robot foundation models will come from simulation. What DexMimicGen does is to trade GPU compute time for human time. It takes one motion trajectory from human, and multiplies into 1000s of new trajectories. A robot brain trained on this augmented dataset will generalize far better in the real world. Think of DexMimicGen as a learning signal amplifier. It maps a small dataset to a large (de facto infinite) dataset, using physics simulation in the loop. In this way, we free humans from babysitting the bots all day. The future of robot data is generative. The future of the entire robot learning pipeline will also be generative. 🧵

Better data for robot hands! 🤲🏼 Embodied reasoning is the bottleneck now. It’s the data we are missing. Specifically, understanding what the robot's hands are doing throughout a task. Perceptron AI new Egocentric offering tracks both hands through an entire video instead of guessing from sampled frames. That matters because a lot happens between frames. Hand positions shift. Contacts change. The robot adjusts grip. You miss all that if you're sampling. 0.280 semantic end-to-end F1 score on WGO-Bench vs 0.158 from the best pipelines built on Gemini Robotics-ER 1.6. Training a robot to manipulate objects requires understanding every moment of hand-object interaction. If your training data has gaps: missing frames, missed contacts, unclear hand positions, the policy learns from incomplete information. You end up with robots that work in demos but fail in real tasks. Continuous hand tracking gives you the full picture. The policy learns from cleaner, more complete data. What spreads is whatever’s angry, extreme, ridiculous—anything that gets a reaction. So when you’re scrolling, just remember: you’re not seeing real life. Alex Karp went on TV and said his enterprise customers are done letting AI companies quietly steal the alpha out of their business, and the CEO of Together AI explained on CNBC exactly how that theft works. Karp said his customers are livid. They feel they pay for tokens that create nothing while handing over the secret sauce of their own company. Then Vipul Ved Prakash laid out the mechanism. Every time you send your data to a company with very smart models, you hand them the recipe to rebuild what you do. Your data is the thing that makes you money. And you are pushing it straight into a competitor's system. The smarter the models get, the more they learn from what you feed them. This is why companies are moving to open models, and it was never really about price. You can download an open model, run it inside your own walls, and never let your data leave the building. It scores 81 against the top closed model's 85, and runs up to sixty times cheaper. Half the Fortune 500 is already running open models from Hugging Face. The story was that the labs win because they own the best models. The companies paying them just realized they owned the best data the whole time.

Small Language Models (SML) are the future of AI. "Small" (SML) instead of "Large" (LLM). These small models are highly specialized models with superhuman abilities on specific tasks. Here are two techniques to build these models: • Spectrum • Model Merging I give you a short introduction in the attached video, but here is a quick summary: Spectrum helps us identify the most relevant layers to solve one specific task. We can ignore everything else and focus on fine-tuning these layers. Using Spectrum, we can fine-tune models in a heartbeat. Model Merging combines multiple models into a unique, much better model than any of the individual input models. You can also combine models specialized in different tasks and get a model with multiple abilities. This is the state of the art of productizing models. It's what Arcee.ai's platform does behind the scenes. Arcee collaborated with me on this post and is sponsoring it. There are three main steps to produce a model for your particular use case: 1. You create a dataset by uploading your data. 2. You train a model. At this step, Arcee uses Spectrum and Model Merging to produce a highly specialized model for your task. 3. You can deploy that model to any environment you want.
