Today Morning , I intercepted a school van transporting pupils under dangerously overcrowded conditions. This is a stark reminder of how road negligence threatens our most vulnerable. Our children's safety is non-negotiable. I have called on traffic police to strictly enforce safety regulations and clamp down on school vehicle overloading. To school proprietors, headteachers, and drivers: our children are not cargo. They are the future of Uganda. Take full responsibility for their safety. No convenience is worth a child’s life. Let’s choose safety, always.

People buy cars in India based on looks, price, mileage, colour, sunroof but unfortunately safety of the car is not our top priority. Many of the most popular Indian cars (Swift, Wagon R) have failed crash tests. I spoke to India's leading road safety expert, Piyush Tewari and he explained to me 4 safety features everyone should check before buying a car that I have shared in this video. Let us all make safety the top priority while buying cars, not just looks or colour! Share to save lives!

This evening along Mombasa Road, I witnessed a deeply concerning situation where some pedestrians blatantly disregarded traffic rules, avoiding designated footbridges and instead risking their lives by crossing busy roads amid fast-moving traffic. This dangerous behavior continues to put lives at risk and has contributed to a worrying number of fatal accidents on our roads. We have received multiple reports of pedestrians being knocked down while attempting to cross in unsafe areas. These tragic incidents are entirely preventable if proper crossing points are used. Our county officers will be deployed to enforce compliance and enhance safety along these roads. However, enforcement alone is not enough we all have a role to play in promoting road safety. I appeal to all pedestrians to prioritize their safety by using footbridges and designated crossings at all times. Your life is invaluable. Let us work together to build a culture of responsibility and awareness on our roads, where every journey whether by foot or vehicle ends safely.

Driver of the Ford pickup UA 065BQ made a U-Turn on Buganda Road and drove in the opposite direction in total disregard of the one way road regulations and safety of other road users. This type of reckless behavior is more associated with rogues driving around, mostly in government registered vehicles and those numberless SUVs. They have little regard of safety. Dear Sylvia Mulinge M.B.S, if this is one of your team members MTN Uganda, you may need to send them for a quick course on road etiquette, or if you donated this vehicle, then they should scrape off the branding. Otherwise, as KCCA cleans the streets, we expect your team to model responsibility and champion safety. Together we can make a difference, make our roads safe and save lives. This risky behavior continues to result in avoidable accidents, injuries, and even loss of life. Today along Mombasa Road, I witnessed several people ignoring a nearby footbridge and opting for a dangerous shortcut across the highway. While it may seem faster or more convenient in the moment, the consequences can be devastating. Footbridges are constructed specifically to protect lives, and using them should not be optional but a shared responsibility. We shall deploy our officers to arrest anyone who is found in violation of the law, especially those who avoid using the flyovers and instead opt to risk their lives by competing with vehicles an act that often leads to unnecessary accidents and loss of lives. Road safety is a collective effort drivers, pedestrians, and authorities all have a role to play. There is a need for increased public awareness, stricter enforcement of traffic rules, and a mindset shift among pedestrians to prioritize safety over convenience. No shortcut is worth risking a life. Let us all choose to be more responsible and encourage others to do the same.

It was sad seeing most bodaboda riders driving on the wrong side of the road in the Nairobi CBD, putting their own lives, their passengers, and other road users at risk. Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety has impounded at least five passenger vehicles, including three buses and two minibus taxis, for violating road safety regulations. The vehicles were intercepted on the N1 south outside Polokwane during routine road safety operations, transporting passengers from Zimbabwe to Gauteng in excess of their permitted capacity. A minibus taxi licensed to carry 14 passengers was found transporting over 20 people, including minors, who were forced to sit on cooler boxes and luggage, posing a serious risk to passenger safety. "Overloading remains a leading contributor to road crashes, and we won't tolerate it on our roads," says the department. The vehicles are being held at Polokwane Traffic Control Centre pending further action. Video
