Today Morning , I intercepted a school van transporting pupils under dangerously overcrowded conditions. This is a stark reminder of how road negligence threatens our most vulnerable. Our children's safety is non-negotiable. I have called on traffic police to strictly enforce safety regulations and clamp down on school vehicle overloading. To school proprietors, headteachers, and drivers: our children are not cargo. They are the future of Uganda. Take full responsibility for their safety. No convenience is worth a child’s life. Let’s choose safety, always.

The leading cause of death amongst people between 5-29 years of age is not diabetes or cancer, it's road accidents. People buy cars in India based on looks, price, mileage, colour, sunroof but unfortunately safety of the car is not our top priority. Many of the most popular Indian cars (Swift, Wagon R) have failed crash tests. I spoke to India's leading road safety expert, Piyush Tewari and he explained to me 4 safety features everyone should check before buying a car that I have shared in this video. Let us all make safety the top priority while buying cars, not just looks or colour! Share to save lives!

This evening along Mombasa Road, I witnessed a deeply concerning situation where some pedestrians blatantly disregarded traffic rules, avoiding designated footbridges and instead risking their lives by crossing busy roads amid fast-moving traffic. This dangerous behavior continues to put lives at risk and has contributed to a worrying number of fatal accidents on our roads. We have received multiple reports of pedestrians being knocked down while attempting to cross in unsafe areas. These tragic incidents are entirely preventable if proper crossing points are used. Our county officers will be deployed to enforce compliance and enhance safety along these roads. However, enforcement alone is not enough we all have a role to play in promoting road safety. I appeal to all pedestrians to prioritize their safety by using footbridges and designated crossings at all times. Your life is invaluable. Let us work together to build a culture of responsibility and awareness on our roads, where every journey whether by foot or vehicle ends safely.

Driver of the Ford pickup UA 065BQ made a U-Turn on Buganda Road and drove in the opposite direction in total disregard of the one way road regulations and safety of other road users. This type of reckless behavior is more associated with rogues driving around, mostly in government registered vehicles and those numberless SUVs. They have little regard of safety. Dear Sylvia Mulinge M.B.S, if this is one of your team members MTN Uganda, you may need to send them for a quick course on road etiquette, or if you donated this vehicle, then they should scrape off the branding. Otherwise, as KCCA cleans the streets, we expect your team to model responsibility and champion safety. Together we can make a difference, make our roads safe and save lives.
