Just putting back what the wind, tide and weather will move.

They actually calculate sediment dispersal when dumping soil. They know where the majority of the soil will end up in time

I know they risk-assess every detail. Nature just 'does its thing'.

I do a lot of that

That is not soil, it's sediments.

@lamadrid56 I grew up in a place, where almost all soil is good for growing crops, vegetables etc, and to regenerate/create it again is almost impossible, so my first thought was "wtf are they doing with the soil, this is literally a crime". Sediments is another story, so yeah

@BartGonnissen Take it as a learning experience. Soils have a very specific definition. I was in the middle of my PhD when I understood the difference between soils and sediments. So I was not trying to dis you. (Nerd parties love me... it is an Uhmmm actually fest!)

Leuk om te zien! In een grijs verleden (1988) als sparks op de Rocky Giant van Roterdam naar Hong Kong gevaren. Deze stenenstorter ging daar aan de bouw van het nieuwe vliegveld werken.

In the early 60s I worked for a small marine design company (T T Lunde inc) in San Francisco. We then had a good patent for dump barges & built several. Then this came out. We built no more after that, but other good stuff fortunately.

Sometimes, it's used for construction, but sometimes you need to maintain certain spots that are eroding too fast

It just has natural buoyancy. You could almost compare it to a catamaran

This is for all the soil to fall out .. the hull closes after itโ€™s empy.

Had to dry dock one a few years ago. Nerve wracking when youโ€™re in the water and checking to make sure it lands on the blocks when they start dewatering the Drydock.
