THIS IS WHAT A BROKEN EDUCATION SYSTEM DOES TO STUDENTS A student who has lost all hope in the education system sat on a silent hunger protest. People pleaded with him. Abhijeet folded his hands. He told him this movement needs his strength, not his suffering. The student still refused to break. That is the part India needs to see. Students are not doing drama for attention. They are reaching a point where silence, hunger and pain become their last language. This is not anger anymore. This is what a system looks like when it has pushed its own students too far.

Both are praising him, student saying “he’s very nice and that he was just acting to show how teachers used to beat students 20 years ago”. His father even said, “People are posting that video for cheap publicity. Sumit Sir is a kind hearted man and he has improved my child’s personality”. What an amazing scripted performance by all three of them! 👏

Suddenly the school wants him to post a TikTok encouraging students to come back. He agrees and does it. Attendance rebounds. Then 85% of the students start wearing T-shirts with his face on them in solidarity. And now the school has the audacity to ask him—again—to make another video telling students they can’t wear the shirts. Parents and family play the primary role in a child’s grooming, behaviour and conduct. School (teachers and staff) comes in secondary, and more commonly serve to correct and fix the poorly groomed children(from their respective homes) Less than a month ago, a parent at Lubiri SS humiliated a teacher who had tried to discipline a student. The parent forced this teacher to apologise to the student infront of other students! Today, still parents are blaming this school for their own children’s sick behaviour! The double standards here are unmatched! Let’s agree that we have failed on parenthood, and passing the blame to other people is an extremly nonsensical idea!

He didn’t think for a moment that his teacher would tell him it was inappropriate and make him wash it off. William tried to explain he couldn’t remove it because it was important for the beginning of Easter but eventually obliged. The teacher made him wash off the ash in front of the other students. There are always so many negative comments about teachers. Let me show you a small glimpse into the heart of a teacher. This gentleman has a complete breakfast set up for his kids that come in hungry each morning. Bought and paid for out of his own pocket! He also has lunch items and snacks if needed. This isn’t’t in our job description, but it is written on our hearts. You have no idea how many times we feed our students because we see the need. Not for accolades, but simply because our students deserved to be fed. While I’m at it, let me also say that many teachers clear cafeteria debt for students and we buy t-shirts and sweatshirts from the school for our kids. Again, not for accolades, just because we saw those who couldn’t afford it. We never make a spectacle out of giving them the school merchandise, it just appears on their desk one morning.
