Such mangoes which we directly suck or use it for aamras are kept in bucket of water overnight & then consumed!

Apart from cleaning it, does soaking overnight reduce its ushna or heat quotient?

Yes, in common terms we say to reduce ushna. But scientifically it says -

This is a local variety in Kumta called MaaniBhatta(ಮಾಣಿ ಭಟ್ಟ). I eat eat it every season

Fruit Name is "Maani batta". Especially grown in kumta region of Uttara Kannada district. It tasts like the fruit was dipped in sugar juice.that much sweet along with kind of aroma no othr mango has. keep this mango 4 months. It squeeze but wont spoil

I am told the Maani batta is derived from the seed of the forest mango and is now cultivated in the Uttara Kannada region. What I tasted were the tribal foraged ones, which ripen quickly and rots too rather fast due to no agricultural intervention of fertiliser or pesticide.

From the picture that is shown i can bet it is manibatta. No other mango will shrink with that many pleats. Yeah maanibatta derived from forest mango but it was there in coastal belt of uttara kannada in kumta from very long back,Nowadays due to weather changes it is rotting fast

This, I am told in good authority, are foraged from the forest. I am more inclined to believe that. 🙌

Sure. Thank you for putting light on the wild variety of mangoes from Uttara kannada ( not uttara karnataka) district. This district has a variety of fruits but very less explored.

Hope to explore more from the region next season. 🤞

From past one month we are eating this for lunch at home. Rice, mango(mango+ wildchilly ) no other Saaru. 😃

Wow! That sounds delicious. Bisi bisi anna mavinkayi 🥭 mirchi! 🌶️ 😋

Yes I have one tree forest species, inside red and outside green

Lucky you then!

How wonderful! You are truly fortunate — those forest mangoes from Kumta are likely the closest thing to what a mango actually tastes like without human interference. Pure. Natural. The way it was meant to be. What you experienced is exactly what every Indian deserves to eat — not the chemical-soaked, artificially ripened versions sitting in our markets today. I grow mangoes naturally in Telangana — remotely managing my farm from America. Zero pesticides. Zero fungicides. Zero urea. Bumper harvest this season. Many of my mangoes weigh over 600 grams. Mango does not need chemicals to thrive. I proved it. Would love to collaborate with you on a video — sharing facts on natural mango farming, what chemicals are doing to our food, and how we can protect this legacy for the next generation. People need to know the truth about what they are eating. Would you be kind enough to share my Telugu video on natural mango farming with your audience? వీడియో తెలుగులో చూడండి: Together we can start a conversation that protects farmers, consumers and the most loved fruit in India. Let’s talk. Happy to do a video with you anytime. #NaturalFarming #ChemicalFreeMango #ProtectTheMango #ForestMango #SiddiTribe #WesternGhats #FarmerFirst #FoodSafety #IndianMangoes #NaturalFarming

From the same region there is one more kind - maani bhatta. There are very few trees left in that region , give a try next summer

These mangoes really amazing. Pure organic.

True that.

I bought lots of them from Yellapur bus stand, by the roadside 2 weeks ago. Superb taste

Not a big fan of fibrous mangoes , mangoes are supposed to be pulpy, if it’s not then there seems to be some deficiency and the wrinkles on the skin tells you the same

Whilst pulpy mangoes have their place, carefully grown, harvested and packed and transported to shiny displays in padded boxes, these wild mangoes are as nature intended for it to grow in the wild, nothing wrong with them.

This time you must try Langda variety of Mango and provide review. Now it started coming to Bangalore. Once you have this Mango, you will forget all. IMHO Alphonso is super hyped Mango.

What did your boss say about this mango?

Loved them.

Sir, is it what is called as Kaatu maavinahannu ( primarily used for curry and mango juice) in Dakshina Kannada Udupi?

I think these are called Jeera Mango (Jeere ambe) in the konkan region if I am not wrong...

Njoy 😋

Malagova looks like

No no, these are tiny compared to the malgova.

Maanibhatta?

so many years in bengaluru but cant speak in #Kannada properly?

Looks like sakkare gutla

saar namgu beku 😋👨🏾🍳
