This is another excerpt from the interview that's worth a watch. The condescension from the journalist is off the chart, he's absolutely convinced of the supremacy of the Western system and he cannot fathom how the DRC president doesn't see it. Like in this exchange: - "The fact that... show more

Interesting "West vs rest" moment yesterday on French TV with the President of Congo, the 2nd biggest country in Africa. The host asks: "Are you saying that the Chinese or the Russians behave better than us, Westerners, currently, in your opinion?" "Oh absolutely!" he replies, "You don't quite understand African realities... it's astonishing to see how we are very distant in terms of cultures. We cannot understand why you come to give us lessons, for example, on human rights." Reminds of the now famous saying from a Kenyan official: "Every time China visits we get a hospital, every time Britain visits we get a lecture”...

Funny - near the end of the video he states that no western journalists were present at Tiananmen. Except they were - and later debunked how the event was presented to the world by the West

Very true

Very timely Arnaud. The West can only view Africa through the lens of exploitation.I forget which African leader said :" When the White Man came to Africa we had gold and they had the Bible, when they left we had the Bible and they had the gold "

Would that be the same democracy they allegedly brought to Iraq, Libya, & others in the region? Or maybe he means like the one they ignore in Saudi? This is akin to the style of create your own bag in a pick & mix sweet shop.

The “Democratic West” colonized, enslaved, and otherwise openly oppressed Africans and Asians. Now it’s surprised it’s unloved? Gimme a break.

The most amusing stuff is that. the journalist can't even define what a democracy is. his answer was just "believe me you live in a democracy or authoritarian system there is a huge difference "

Such people must not be granted interviews...obviously he came with some sense of superiority mentality...assuming that the questions he will pose will scare off Pres Tshisekedi for fear of offending the west.. They talk democracy but they lament when they loose in a democracy

The arrogance of the interviewer is gross
