Golf is supposed to be a gentleman’s game. That’s why what I saw during the Ryder Cup disturbed me. When Justin Rose yelled at Bryson DeChambeau’s caddie, when the crowd heckled during shots, when Rory lost his cool, it all broke the unwritten rules that make golf special. The Ryder Cup is always fiercely competitive, but this year it descended into chaos. Europe takes the Cup home, and America is left to regroup. As a self-admitted terrible golfer, I still love the sport because of the respect baked into its traditions. Yesterday, those traditions were abused, and it left a bad taste for fans everywhere.

It's bigger than all of us. We come and go. Players are -- we pass through the system. Like, it's the platform that's the big thing. I mean, I think we should all be grateful that we have a platform like the Ryder Cup that we can play on and that we can showcase our skills and be a part of something that's obviously way bigger than ourselves. However, he also would love to do it again and “avenge that loss.” Speaking ahead of the Hero World Challenge, he said: “I have this like gaping hole in my career now that I don't know that I'll ever be able to fill. This isn't something that you lose the Masters, you lose a tournament, I'm going to work extra hard to get back and win. “Being the captain of the Ryder Cup team is not something you can work hard for, it's just something that's sort of elected on you. “I don't know. Of course I would love to do it again, I would love to avenge that loss, but that's not up to me. That's not up to -- I don't think that's fair for me to come out here and say that. “But I would love to do it again at some point. I don't know if that will ever happen, probably won't.
