A tigress typically raises cubs for twenty-four months, providing critical nutrition and protection. These young tigers depend on maternal hunting skills to survive their first year. By following her cubs observe essential behaviors. Maternal investment is high, as the female must secure frequent kills to support growing offspring. While...

A limp at birth could have meant certain death in the wild. But one tigress refused to let it define her story. In the forests of Pench Tiger Reserve, a tigress lovingly called Langdi spent her life walking with a visible limp. Born with a deformity in one of her forepaws, she earned the nickname “Langdi”, meaning “the one who limps”. In the wild, where strength often decides survival, such a challenge can be fatal. But Langdi proved otherwise. Born around 2008 and officially identified as PN 20 (T 20), she was also the sibling of the legendary tigress Collarwali, one of India’s most celebrated big cats. While Collarwali became famous for raising multiple litters, Langdi quietly built her own legacy in the forests of Pench. Against the odds, she lived nearly 18 years, far longer than most wild tigers. Over her lifetime, Langdi gave birth to 10 cubs, many of whom have gone on to establish territories in and around the Pench landscape, strengthening the region’s tiger population. In recent months, age had slowed her down. Hunting became difficult, and she often survived on prey left behind by other predators. She was last seen on 6 March, before forest officials discovered her body in the Karmajhiri range. Forest staff later performed her last rites inside the reserve with full wildlife protocol, paying tribute to a tigress who had become a part of Pench’s story. Rest well, Langdi.🐅 Credits : kaivalya_kashyap | monudubey.pench on IG #Langdi #PenchTigerReserve #RIP #WildlifeIndia [Langdi tigress, Pench Tiger Reserve, tiger conservation, wildlife conservation]

Impact After Term | 10 : Ensuring Dignified Living for 396 Families Through Affordable Housing | Subramaniapuram TNUHDB Housing Complex Access to safe, secure, and dignified housing is one of the most important foundations of social justice and inclusive development. For decades, hundreds of families in Ward 77, Subramaniapuram, many of them sanitation workers, lived in inadequate housing with limited access to basic amenities and quality living conditions. Recognising the need for a permanent solution, Dr. Dr P Thiaga Rajan (PTR) began advocating for modern housing for these families soon after being elected MLA for Madurai Central in 2016, and continued to pursue the demand throughout his tenure in the Opposition. Due to his sustained advocacy, the project was announced by the AIADMK Government in 2018. However, no financial allocation was made and the proposal remained largely on paper. Following the formation of the DMK Government in 2021, Dr. PTR, as Minister for Finance and Human Resources Management, ensured that the long-pending project received the necessary financial support. Backed by an investment of ₹62.68 crore, construction commenced in August 2023. Originally conceived to benefit 250 families, the project was subsequently expanded through further efforts to accommodate 396 families. The completed residential complex was inaugurated on 10 February 2026 and stands as Madurai's first government-supported high-rise affordable housing complex with lift facilities. The nine-storey development includes vehicle parking, children's play areas, and other essential amenities designed to provide a safe and dignified living environment. The first phase of allotments has already been completed, with orders issued to 223 beneficiary families. What began as a long-standing demand raised on behalf of residents was ultimately transformed into a modern housing community, providing hundreds of families with improved living conditions, better sanitation, and a more secure future. The project stands as a testament to Dr PTR's sustained commitment to addressing the needs of his constituents and converting long-pending public demands into lasting outcomes. — Admin Team

This morning, The Princess of Wales was in London to attend The Future Workforce Summit bringing together the UK’s most influential business leaders to drive further action and investment in the early years🥰 She was greeted by Sir Gareth Southgate among the other leaders present and she delivered an address to her audience of Business leaders and the remark centered around "Love". I loved these sections of her speech greatly redacted by journalist Antonello Guerrera: "My passion and the work of The Centre for Early Childhood stems from one essential truth; that the love we feel in our earliest years fundamentally shapes who we become and how we thrive as adults."👌🏽 "Love is the first and most essential bond. But it is also the invisible thread, woven with time, attention and tenderness, through consistent, nurturing relationships which creates the grounded and meaningful environments around a child. It is this texture, the weave of love, which forms a child’s emotional world and becomes the foundation, the very fabric of resilience and belonging."❤️ "The home should be the space where love, safety and rhythm enable a child to thrive. A loving home ultimately teaches us how to love and how to care, but every environment has the potential to shape our hearts." " At The Centre for Early Childhood, we believe that we must do all we can to create the conditions for love to flourish. That is how we invest in our future. Every child deserves respect and safety, and everyone who cares deserve recognition and appreciation."🔥 "I believe in restoring the dignity to the quiet, often invisible work of caring, of loving well, as we look to build a happier, healthier society. You are here because you care, so thank you."❤️ And that is how it is done: As Royal, you are given an immense platform to do so much, and I love that Catherine understands how to use that platform efficiently and to create real change around her, not for self promotion. After the last Business summit where The Princess called on Leaders to provide more Family time on their workforce based on her early childhood research, Deloitte decided to rewrite their Policy of Parental leave for both Male and female, from the minimum 2 weeks parental leave to extend it to 26 weeks; That is 6 months full months of Paid leave for their workforce of almost 500k professionals around the world🤩 I cannot wait to see what actions comes from this new summit👌🏽 #PrincessofWales 📹Emily Ferguson

Generative AI is a Psy-op to Keep the Poor Dumb The growing mass reliance on Artificial Intelligence (AI) is not accidental. It is a deliberate effort driven by a few wealthy Silicon Valley capitalists to commoditise “intelligence” and convince people to adopt it in exchange for their real-life problem-solving abilities, critical thinking and cultural authenticity. The ultimate goal as always, is to enrich this already super-wealthy tech elite at the expense of everyone else. Tellingly, while these billionaire tech oligarchs spend billions to convince consumers to adopt and become dependent on “AI” solutions, they are also doubling down on the primacy of human intelligence in their elite bubbles. This was illustrated by luxury car brand Porsche, which recently released an advert whose messaging conspicuously signalled that it used exclusively human-created content. This is a clear sign of a sharp divide between the wealthy and everyday people on the question of AI adoption. While the working classes are heavily influenced to buy into the idea that generative AI platforms like ChatGPT, Suno, and VEO-3 represent the future of work, research, and art, luxury brands meant for the elite are concurrently reassuring their market that human craftsmanship, critical thinking, and genuine creativity remains central to their vision. “AI for thee, not for me” appears to be the message. Across Africa, multiple Western state and NGO actors are pushing for this so-called “AI revolution” to take a central place in African educational systems. Even in some parts of the continent where basic access to electricity remains a challenge, governments are being feverishly lobbied to adopt “AI strategies” for their under-resourced educational systems. At the very same time, it has been reported that Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and other Silicon Valley billionaires who are pushing AI adoption, not only enroll their children in Montessori schools but also restrict their exposure and access to the very same technology that their lobbyists are trying to push into African classrooms. The obvious danger in opening African education systems up to the so-called “AI Revolution” is that the next generation of Africans could end up devoid of the exact reading, writing, critical reasoning and creative skills that Africa needs to fully take its place in the world - instead trained from an early age to be reliant on ChatGPT, Grok, Suno, Nano Banana, and VEO-3 to do their thinking and expression for them. At a time when high-level human thinking is needed more than ever on the continent, it is no accident that Western lobbyists are heavily pushing the normalisation of generative AI as a core pillar of African education. If Africa is to be maintained as a colonial resource plantation and a market for excess overseas production, young Africans must be made to read, write and think less, and consume more. In Africa and elsewhere, the constant global dynamic is that the poor and underprivileged are encouraged to outsource their intellectual processes to AI in order to “stay competitive," while the wealthy quietly protect the disciplines that actually sharpen the mind: reading, writing, artistry, and critical thinking. Africans must see the “AI Revolution” for what it is. Far from just benign or neutral technological advancement, it is yet another manifestation of power consolidation by Western racial-capitalists. This class of people understands very well that literacy, philosophy, and art produce power, while delegation of thought only produces ignorance and compliance. Despite whatever message they put out, the reality remains that thinking for yourself will in fact, never be “disrupted.”

There were hushed moments of pure joy at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo this morning, as a small group of Primate World keepers and staff gathered to adore the Zoo’s newest addition: a brand-new gorilla baby bundle of joy born in the early hours of Mon., July 21, 2025. Asha, a 32-year-old critically endangered Western lowland gorilla, and her new baby seem to be doing well. The baby has hit the milestones that indicate it is strong, including nursing and clinging to its mom. “Asha is sitting and lying down with the baby and gently patting its back, which is really adorable,” Ashton Asbury, Primate World animal keeper, says. “The baby hangs onto Asha while she’s moving around and she supports it with one hand. They’re bonding really well, and we have seen her licking the baby’s head and grooming it.” First-time dad, Goma, is showing interest in the baby, too. “He seems to want to stick close to her and the baby,” Ashton says. “I heard him making happy gorilla grumbles at them, and Asha is doing a good job of showing him the baby while keeping a comfortable distance.” It has been nearly 13 years since a gorilla was born at CMZoo. This little one is Asha’s third baby and the first for silverback dad, Goma. Asha was born at CMZoo on Oct. 5, 1992. Thirty-four-year-old Goma moved to CMZoo, in 2016, on a breeding recommendation from the Western Lowland Gorilla Species Survival Plan, supported by Association of Zoos and Aquariums-accredited organizations, including CMZoo. Primate World is open to the public and will continue to be as long as Asha and the troop continue to do well. Asha’s care team will continue to monitor her and the baby – and the troop’s overall dynamic – and make adjustments as needed. The sex and weight of the gorilla baby are not known yet. As long as keepers observe that baby and mom are doing well, they will continue to let Asha take the lead on providing care. The baby will likely cling to Asha for the first several weeks, but will start getting to know its dad, Goma, and ‘aunt’ Kwisha (who is unrelated genetically, but grew up with Asha and had a relationship with both of her offspring), as long as Asha is comfortable. Asha is an experienced mother. She has welcomed two previous babies to the world during her time at CMZoo, both of whom now live in troops at other zoos. Although the goal is to let Asha take the lead on newborn care, her supportive team is ready to help if the need arises. As a first-time dad, Goma has been participating in training with his care team that aims to improve his comfort around the baby. Following Cheyenne Mountain Zoo tradition, the baby will be named after he or she is at least 30 days old. CMZoo will provide updates on social media channels and in newsletter updates.

Aircraft Carriers: Very Much Alive, But in a Different Role We all thought aircraft carriers were obsolete, after all, because of their size, it's not hard to hit them with anti-ship missiles. And I would say there are missiles designed for this type of target with ranges up to 8,000 km, putting any large warship at risk. It is precisely in this context that aircraft carriers are reborn as extremely useful assets, because any long-range anti-carrier missile must carry out the initial target acquisition phase supported by its "kill web", which consists of reconnaissance satellites, over-the-horizon (OTH) radars, maritime patrol aircraft, and surveillance drones. Far from the coast, this primary acquisition is performed or enhanced by drones. Missiles such as the DF-21D, DF-26, and DF-27, for example, in addition to the initial guidance phase, rely heavily on external updates (satellites + drones) for mid-course corrections, even flight time being short, the target can displace dozens of kilometers. Once close, they will use their own onboard sensors, such as active radar, IR, optical sensors, and INS. But up to that point, they remain dependent on mid-course guidance. It is in this context that aircraft carriers play a fundamental role in fleet protection, sustaining dozens of HALE and MALE drones patrolling hundreds of kilometers and preventing enemy drones from conducting surveillance and target acquisition. These drones are also essential for interfering with enemy satellites through electronic warfare (EW), helping to keep the squadron safe by degrading or blocking orbital communications and tracking. Other measures will be complemented by the squadron's own EW capabilities, but keeping drones in the air to disrupt the enemy's kill web remains fundamental. Without aircraft carriers, there is no autonomy for these drones to cover the necessary area. Therefore, each aircraft carrier should operate with dedicated drone squadrons on a full-time basis. Very much alive, yes. Only now their game is denying the enemy the ability to find and target us, rather than going out to strike distant bases like in the old days. * Obviously, I support the decentralization m- also of C2-, of fleets and greater investment in smaller units, but large ships will continue to exist and must always be protected in safer areas. To move these the fleet in open sea, will be necessary drone cover, with ACs.
