Strengthening Pune’s Infrastructure and Urban Connectivity Performed Bhoomipujan, Inauguration and unveiled the stone plaque of various development works along with DCM Sunetratai Pawar in Pune. Inaugurated and unveiled the foundation stone plaque of 9 water storage reservoirs under the Equitable Water Supply Scheme in Ward Nos. 41 and 19 at Mohammadwadi, along with DCM Sunetratai Pawar. The scheme is being implemented to ensure clean and regular water supply for citizens through a modern distribution system. Also performed the bhoomipujan (online) for the double-decker flyover integrated with Metro connectivity at Mahatma Phule Chowk, Mundhva. The project will help reduce traffic congestion and save travel time. Along with DCM Sunetratai Pawar, unveiled the statue and foundation stone plaque of Swarajyarakshak, Dharmaveer and ‘Budhbhushan’ Granth Rachnakar Chhatrapati Shri Sambhaji Maharaj at Chhatrapati Shri Sambhaji Maharaj Udyan, Pune. The sculpture depicts Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj authoring the historic ‘Budhbhushan’ granth, reflecting his extraordinary scholarship, vision and enduring contribution to our rich civilisational heritage. Inspired by such visionary legacy, continuous efforts over the past decade have been undertaken to transform Pune into a modern and future-ready city through projects such as the new airport, ring road, Metro network, elevated roads and the upcoming underground tunnel network. Over the past fourteen and a half years, Bengal has travelled a long and determined path shaped by the trust of our people and the conviction that development must reach every household, every neighbourhood, every region, and every corner of our state. Today, as we launch Unnayoner Panchali, we are presenting the collective journey of a people who chose progress over prejudice, humanity over hostility, and unity over divisiveness. This report card reflects a model of development rooted in social security, women empowerment, economic growth, and transparent delivery of public services. From expanding access to health and education, to strengthening rural livelihoods, to creating new opportunities for the youth, each initiative represents a clear, consistent intent that Bengal’s progress must be broad-based, equitable and sustainable. Our State Government has always believed that public welfare cannot be compromised by political expediency. Despite the Centre withholding Bengal’s dues out of sheer vindictiveness, we have ensured that people’s rights and entitlements are protected. Whether through Lakshmir Bhandar, Kanyashree, Swasthya Sathi, Khadyasathi, Krishak Bandhu, Duare Sarkar, Karmashree, Banglar Bari, or the countless other schemes, our priority has remained to safeguard the future of our people and strengthen the foundation of this state. Rooted in Bengal’s soil, language, and cultural consciousness, the Panchali form has always carried our shared memory and heritage. In this modern Panchali, every verse echoes the transformative journey of our Maa, Mati, Manush. I convey my heartfelt gratitude to Smt. Iman Chakraborty for her soulful rendition. The World Bank has identified Nagpur as one of India's fastest-growing cities over the coming decade, underscoring the city's rapid infrastructure-led growth and future potential. As the city evolves into a globally competitive urban centre through world-class infrastructure and planned development, every effort will be made to ensure that its growth journey is backed by the resources needed to realise this vision without interruption. A truly future-ready city, is built not only through modern infrastructure but also by empowering the people who sustain it every day. A clean city is the foundation of a healthy society, and the dedication of sanitation workers is at the heart of that vision. Strengthening the workforce that keeps our cities clean, appointment letters were handed over to 579 candidates, including 476 sanitation workers appointed under the Lad-Page Committee recommendations and 103 candidates recruited through the direct recruitment process. Nagpur has also become the first municipal corporation in Maharashtra to introduce a free housing scheme for sanitation workers, providing 300 sq. ft. homes free of cost, with the option to avail larger homes by paying the additional construction cost. These initiatives reflect a firm commitment not only to keeping our cities clean and healthy, but also to improving the quality of life, dignity and welfare of those who work tirelessly to make it possible. The dawn of a new year has brought with it a historic moment for both the pilgrims of Gangasagar and the people of the island. Ending a long wait, the Gangasagar Bridge, being built at a cost of ₹1,670 crore to connect Kakdwip and Gangasagar, had its foundation stone laid today. I also remotely laid the foundation for a 3.4-km high-drainage canal system at a cost of ₹528.93 lakh, connecting Siddheshwari Kali Mandir to the Bidyadhari canal junction in Ashokenagar-Kalyangarh, North 24 Parganas. This project will benefit nearly 50,000 people, prevent waterlogging, protect farmlands from flooding, and help curb the spread of vector-borne diseases. Today, I also unveiled the Gangasagar Mela 2026 booklet, detailing the comprehensive arrangements made by our government. For public welfare, we have fully waived the pilgrimage tax. Between 9 and 17 January, the state has arranged ₹5 lakh insurance coverage for pilgrims, residents, journalists, officials, or any other victims. Since the Maa-Maati-Manush Sarkaar assumed responsibility, uninterrupted electricity has reached even the most remote parts of the island. We have built three helipads, multiple jetties, formed the Sundarban Police District, established the Gangasagar Coastal Police Station and Kakdwip Harwood Point Coastal Police Station, and carried out the beautification and upgradation of the Kapil Muni Ashram, preserving both its sanctity and heritage. I was deeply touched by the warm welcome extended by the mothers and sisters of Bharat Sevashram Sangha, through the sacred sound of conch shells and heartfelt ululation. Their selfless dedication to humanitarian service, especially in times of crisis, continues to inspire me. It was a privilege to personally distribute blankets among local residents, reaffirming that service to humanity remains our highest duty. I also offered prayers at the Kapil Muni Ashram, pledging myself to the welfare and dignity of our people. We have documented 15 years of development through Unnayaner Panchali. Yet, certain divisive Jono-Birodhi forces, driven only by misinformation and malice, continue to spread false narratives, even targeting the fundamental democratic right of citizens to vote. The elderly, the ailing, and the vulnerable have been victims of this conspiracy that has already claimed precious lives. Bengal will respond to these Bangla-Birodhi forces through the strength of democracy, unity, and collective resolve. May the bonds of peace, harmony, unity, and fraternity remain unbroken. To review the preparations for the Gangasagar Mela, I travelled to Sagar Island today. In October 2025, the Prime Minister undertook a series of national and international engagements focused on infrastructure development, rural transformation, governance reform, and diplomatic cooperation. Here is a brief recap of the past month: 𝙊𝙣 𝙐𝙧𝙗𝙖𝙣 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙞𝙜𝙣 𝘿𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙄𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 A defining highlight of the month was the laying of the foundation stone for the urea fertilizer plant, a landmark project developed through a partnership between Ethiopian Investment Holdings and the Dangote Group. With an annual production capacity of three million tons, the plant will utilize natural gas from the Calub gas fields, transported through a 108-kilometer pipeline. This project is a cornerstone of Ethiopia’s strategy to achieve fertilizer self-sufficiency and enhance agricultural productivity. In the Somali Region, the Prime Minister also inaugurated the Gode Oil Refinery, developed by Golden Concord Group Limited (GCL). The refinery, designed to process 3.5 million tons of crude oil and condensate per year from the Hilala oil field, represents a significant step in Ethiopia’s path toward energy independence. Complementing these milestones, the Prime Minister inaugurated the first phase of the Ogaden Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) Project in Calub. The facility, with an annual production capacity of 111 million litres and the ability to generate 1,000 megawatts of energy, strengthens Ethiopia’s industrial base while contributing critical inputs to fertilizer production and energy generation. During his visit to Jigjiga in the Somali Region, the Prime Minister observed the city’s rapid transformation since his last visit in January 2025. Thousands of new housing units are under construction, and corridor development projects are visibly enhancing urban well-being. He lauded the Dine for Generations Project, nearing completion in the Somali Region, for unlocking new opportunities in tourism and stimulating regional economic growth. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, accompanied by members of the Prosperity Party Executive Committee, visited the corridor development project extending from Sar Bet to German Square, encompassing the Garment Factory and the Furi area. Spanning 589 hectares, it is the second-largest urban corridor after Kazanchis. The project features 16.5 kilometers of asphalt roads, 33 kilometers of pedestrian walkways, plazas, sports and recreation facilities, riverbank development, and over 1,100 commercial shops. The initiative embodies Ethiopia’s broader vision of creating modern, livable, and economically vibrant cities. 𝙊𝙣 𝙍𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘼𝙜𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙈𝙤𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙯𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 Advancing his government’s rural development agenda, the Prime Minister presided over the handover of model rural villages constructed through the Rainy Season Voluntary Scheme in the Halaba, Kembatta, Hadiya, and Silte zones. Each home in these Rural Corridor Villages is equipped with solar power, biogas systems, sanitation facilities, and animal shelters, significantly improving hygiene, comfort, and productivity for rural families. These model villages mark a new chapter in Ethiopia’s mission to raise rural living standards and promote sustainable livelihoods. The Prime Minister encouraged regional leaders to expand these initiatives, setting a target of 100 new houses per zone by next year. During his visit to the East Shewa Zone of the Oromia Region, the Prime Minister also reviewed the rainy season wheat harvest and launched summer wheat production activities. He assessed progress in banana, papaya, and fish farming clusters, emphasizing the growing adoption of mechanized agriculture as a major driver of productivity and self-reliance. He also inaugurated the Welmel River Irrigation Development Project in Delo-Mena Woreda, Bale Zone. Once fully operational, the project will irrigate 9,687 hectares of farmland, benefiting 20,000 farming households and enhancing drought resilience, food sovereignty, and rural employment. 𝙊𝙣 𝙀𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙘 𝙂𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙈𝙖𝙘𝙧𝙤𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙘 𝙍𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙚𝙬 At the Koysha Project site, the Prime Minister convened a strategic review session with the Council of Ministers to assess the macroeconomic performance of the first 100 days of the 2018 Ethiopian Fiscal Year. The review examined achievements, challenges, and strategic priorities, highlighting Ethiopia’s sustained economic resilience amid global uncertainty. The nation’s GDP growth rate stood at 9.2 percent for the 2017 fiscal year, underscoring the success of reforms aimed at fostering inclusive and diversified growth. He commended the Federal Supreme Court for implementing a Smart Court System featuring automated transcription, virtual hearings, and an Integrated Case Management System that enables litigants to track cases online. Covering 24 federal branches to date, this innovation marks an important step toward transparent and accessible justice across Ethiopia. 𝙊𝙣 𝙈𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙖, 𝘾𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙢 Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed attended the launch of the pan-African media outlet Pulse of Africa, a platform he first proposed during the 35th Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly in 2022. The initiative seeks to amplify African perspectives, counter negative portrayals of the continent, and strengthen African unity through shared narratives. In his remarks, the Prime Minister emphasized that Pulse of Africa marks a significant step toward ensuring that Africans tell their own stories and shape their global image. Accompanied by First Lady Zinash Tayachew and a high-level delegation of former and current leaders, the Prime Minister also visited the Bale Zone to assess key development projects that integrate natural heritage with national progress. The "Samruddhi" Expressway of Maharashtra – A Dream Fulfilled! In my eyes, the dream of a prosperous Maharashtra was always alive… Today, I was elated to inaugurate the last phase of 'Hinduhrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg' (Igatpuri to Amne, Thane - 76 km) and Thane Creek Bridge No. 3 South Side on Sion-Panvel Mahamarg in Igatpuri, Nashik. Back in 2014, we dreamt of a transformative highway that would redefine connectivity and prosperity in Maharashtra. Today, that dream stands realised! This is more than just a road — it’s Maharashtra’s Economic Lifeline. Aptly named after Hinduhrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray, this Samruddhi Mahamarg has now seamlessly connected 24 districts directly to JNPT. And soon, it will extend further to the upcoming Vadhavan Port — unlocking unprecedented economic potential for our state. Samruddhi Mahamarg will not just serve as a route for travel, but will become the backbone of Maharashtra’s economic development. The extensive machinery involved in this project was also specially appreciated. Built at a cost of ₹55,335 crore, this 701-kilometre-long expressway was completed in record time. It was noted that the success of this project is largely due to the valuable contributions of MSRDC, the Public Works Department, engineers, officials, contractors, machine owners, and the thousands of labourers who worked tirelessly day and night. A 76-kilometre stretch of the Samruddhi Mahamarg passes through Nashik and Thane districts. The tunnel near Igatpuri, which is 8 kilometres long, is the longest in the State and the widest in the country. A decision has been made to undertake plantation drives along the Samruddhi Mahamarg and the Palkhi route through the Forest Department. Advanced technology has been employed to make the expressway accident-free. The 1st phase of the Samruddhi Mahamarg was inaugurated by Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji, the 2nd phase was inaugurated by the then CM and now DCM Eknath Shinde ji, and the 3rd phase by Minister Dadaji Bhuse. Today, the final phase of this grand highway has been inaugurated collectively by all representatives of the MahaYuti Sarkar. The Samruddhi Mahamarg has been completed in record time, and similarly, work on the access-controlled Shaktipeeth Mahamarg—set to transform Marathwada’s economy—will begin soon. To ease congestion on the Vashi Bridge over Thane Creek, the newly inaugurated Thane Creek Bridge No. 3 on the Sion-Panvel Highway marks a major step. The 'Missing Link' project on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway will also be completed shortly. We have not only inaugurated an expressway, but we laid a strong foundation for future infrastructure development. These projects are not just about reducing geographical distances—they are about propelling the State’s journey of progress forward. As I drove on this expressway today, I recalled all the challenges we faced, but the resolve remained unshaken. And this dream has been fulfilled!
