Trump is very heavily swayed by personal anecdotes and stories, this might actually have gone a long ways to ensuring a few more are freed up for Ukraine. The problem is they are in short supply.

Friends, in order to survive this winter, we need not just generators (which are very important) but also air defense - this is crucial to stop Russia from destroying more and more of Ukrainian infrastructure. The more air defense systems and missiles for them Ukraine has, the safer Ukrainian civilians will be. The more lives will be saved.
