Woah! Amazing feels here in #Florida. We woke up to 50s and 60s from Tampa-Orlando north. What’s driving this crazy nice weather pattern?? It’s a huge block, which may send another shot our way! Here’s why… a big heat dome over Canada and the Great Lakes is contorting the pattern, acting as a road block, forcing weather around it. The end result is #cool dry Canadian air pouring down the US East Coast into Florida. This crisp low humidity weather will last through Sunday, and if the next shot indeed comes down next week, then it will be mainly rain free through Midweek. But don’t get used to it, deep tropical moisture sitting in the Gulf is ready to pounce as soon as the dry air eases. Meantime Texas and Louisiana is in the firing line for moisture and rain as the pattern is locked in. Stay tuned because honestly this pattern is so out of the ordinary it is almost impossible to forecast beyond 5 days. It could shift anytime next week.

We are finalizing the rebuild of the Dominator 3 and Will Clay has put the science mission on his back! We will be launching dozens of sensors into the tornadoes this year for real-time tornado intensity. LocalMan Weather and I have been grinding out the rest of the Team Dominator speaking tour, with our next event tomorrow night in Effingham, Illinois. On March 1 we will return to the heart of Tornado Alley to test sensors and gear up for the active pattern ahead. 2026 will be a BIG year for #tornado science! Never stop chasing

Here in northwest Indiana, including Crown Point, conditions are lining up for all modes of severe weather. The Weather Channel measures severe weather potential using our TOR:CON (Tornado Condition Index) and tonight the value here is 7 out of 10, meaning tornadoes are likely within 50 miles of a given location if storms develop. What’s possible with these storms: • Tornadoes, potentially strong (EF2–EF3+) • Large hail up to 2 inches in diameter • Damaging straight-line winds Another concern: timing. Many of these storms will move through in the middle of the night. Nighttime tornadoes are especially dangerous because they’re hard to see, often rain-wrapped, and most people are asleep when warnings are issued. Before you go to bed tonight: 📱 Turn on emergency alerts on your phone 🔋 Make sure your phone is fully charged 🏠 Know your safe place, the lowest level, interior room, away from windows My team is in northwest Indiana tracking the setup and the storms as they develop. 📺 Stay with The Weather Channel for live coverage and updates as this severe weather threat unfolds.
