A vixen that I have never seen before has started to visit my garden. She is heavily pregnant, extremely hungry and very tame. Rather than sussing me out from a distance she came up right close to 'ask for help'. I think that somebody has been feeding her but... maybe they have gone on holiday or moved away, so this vixen is taking risks she would normally avoid in order to feed herself and soon to be born cubs. It is brave of her to stroll into a territory of a vixen and her Beau who just had cubs. Foxes are very territorial, especially when they have cubs to rear. 👁️Interesting fox fact: This footage shows the vixen’s eyes glowing, which is generated by the so-called “Tapetum Lucidum” in action. The “Tapetum Lucidum” is a tissue behind the retina that reflects light back through the retina, giving animals like foxes excellent night vision. I am surprised by so many people telling me to "feed her" - if you watch the video until the end, you can see her eating scattered dog food from the lawn. I am supporting her and when I see her have given her take-away food - chicken drum sticks and raw eggs. However if she was not pregnant and in need, I would not feed her as feeding her encourages her to intrude on the territory that belongs to another vixen, her partner and their cubs. Foxes are very territorial and there will be conflict. So depending on how things pan out, it may be safer for this vixen to not feed her on the territory she is intruding on. To support wildlife without interfering too much, is a fine balance and quite complicated.

Thank you for protecting this innocent and beautiful little vixen. Some people would get a sick thrill out of k*lling her. We need more people to help our precious wildlife. 🦊🩷

My visiting fox comes very close to me - I think she trusts me after I treated her mange. She’s decided my garden is safe, and the neighbouring gardens are very neglected so she’s got a good territory. Her second lot of cubs will be born soon.

Hope things stay settled. Foxes are lost in UK now. Thanks for all you do now. This time of the year I fear for our wildlife. Nesting Season is very important to me too.

She's a very beautiful girl. Thank you for caring about her. I've always loved foxes and badgers. Can't understand why people want to harm them.

@se4realhinton After the hurricane last fall (in FL) , I found what I think is an abandoned fox den in my garden. It is well protected and out of sight. I hope the mom will return this year when she has more kits.

Such a beauty - and this ins the reason I'll never be able to sell my house... I don't trust the new owners to feed the wildlife 🤷🏻‍♀️

I feel the same way. If I sold my house, a developer would build a massive extension into my wildlife garden and the fox den, pond etc would all be lost. For as long as I live, I want to maintain this wildlife sanctuary on my land. Well done for you doing the same.😍
