A while back, I had an idea I was convinced would work. Years ago, Nike ran its “Signature Moves” series — short films breaking down the details behind great offensive skills. I wanted to make the defensive version. Not just defensive highlights. The actual techniques great defenders repeatedly use:... The Reach Around Steal. The Sniper Steal. The Catch Steal. The Wide Steal. The Stunt Steal. The Gap Block. The Top Lock. Defense presented the same way that offense was and is: as a craft worth studying. So I made the series. And… it never really took off. Some videos did fine. Most didn’t. Eventually, I stopped making them. But looking back, I still love the idea. Because one of the things I’ve always wanted to do with Lockdown Defense is make defense feel like a skill players actually WANT to learn. Something worth studying. Something worth practicing. Something cool. Something that might even interrupt a player's feed full of shooting workouts and dribble moves. Maybe the series didn't work. Or maybe I just haven't figured out the right way to do it yet. Either way, I still believe great defenders have signature moves too. Michael Kay with an interesting scoop that changes this entire story: Jazz didn’t steal to pad his stats. Aaron Boone told him to steal, because it wasn’t a blowout yet. The Yankees were up by 6 runs at the time, and so there was still a chance they’d have to use Bednar in the 9th. Kay: “Jazz walks to start the 8th inning. As he's running down to first base, Boone shuts Jazz down, says he's not allowed to steal. But then Boone sees that the Red Sox infield is playing behind Jazz. So Boone yells to the Red Sox dugout, ‘No no no, you can't have it both ways. You either hold him on and we won't run, or if you're gonna not hold him on, we are gonna run.’ Red Sox manager] Chad Tracy didn't react. So the Red Sox first baseman still plays behind Jazz. So Boone says, Go steal. And Boone's reasoning is this: I am two batters away in the ninth inning from having to bring in David Bednar. That run is important. If you're gonna hold me on, then fine I won't run. But you can't have it both ways. I would not have Jazz steal if they were holding him on. But I am not going to give up on a free run, which might stop me from bringing in Bednar."

Two, who to blame when something goes wrong. Three, what to steal today. Only four, mission success. I think as Ukrainians, as Americans, as Brits, we're often motivated by mission success. You want organization you work for to be successful, you want your country to be successful, you want British Army to be successful, I want US Navy to be successful, I want NASA to be successful. That wasn't my experience with Russian cosmonauts I worked with. I'm talking about dozens of people that I knew well, what motivated them when they went to work every day. At the top of the list was that they really cared about the appearance that they were in charge of something, not mission success. Now, whether they were really actually in charge of it or not didn't matter so much. Mission success wasn't even number two. Number two on the list, I would say, was whether they knew who to blame when something went wrong, like placing the blame. Russians have a position in their Mission Control Center which is called "mistakes officer." When a Russian cosmonaut makes a mistake, they keep track of it and they take money out of their pay. I would say the third thing, even before mission success, was what am I going to steal from my employer today. And we would talk about that. They were very open about this. And apparently there's a saying in Russian that if you didn't steal something at work that day, you did not have a good day. For us, and I think everybody in this room here, mission success is the thing that matters more than anything else. And for the Russians I worked with, it might have been number four on the list. So I actually was not that surprised about their incompetence.

The latest and greatest wave of vending machines is here and they are AI. Scan your card, it authorizes a preset amount by the owner for like $10 to make sure you have money, then it allows me to open the door. I take what I want and multiple cameras track what was taken and charges my card when I close the door. There is battery backup in case anyone wants to unplug it and steal. Would you use this, is it really impossible to steal from? I once tried to have a vending machine at the shop, I stocked it with things I think kids would like, candy, chips, basic items that appeal to everybody really. It’s a good way to make money but not without some headaches. People trying to shake the machine, items getting stuck, glitches that overcharge or undercharge and people trying to scam me claiming they out a $50 or other high amount in and claiming the machine took it. I ended up getting rid of it when it broke, I didn’t feel like having it serviced and ended up selling it to another location. Would I do it again? Not snacks, I would do a drink one, they seem to be the popular one especially bottled water. One of my friends has one and she buys the bottled water at Costco for cheap and turns around and sells it in the machine for $3.

I love the films, but with this, they can really explore the books at their fullest, and for a book nerd like me, that was a really great idea. So it was one that I had eyes on, I really wanted to be in it, and the part I’m playing is just the best."

Krzysztof Kieślowski on how he watched movies, how they affected his life and his views on stealing from other movies: "The truth is that I watched masses of films - especially at film school - and I loved a lot of them. But can you call that influence? I think that to this day, apart from a few exceptions, I watch films like a member of the public rather than a director. It's a completely different way of looking at things. Of course, I watch with a professional eye if somebody asks me for advice or something. Then I try to analyse the film, watch it professionally. But if I go to the cinema - which happens very rarely - I try to watch films like the audience does. That is, I try to allow myself to be moved, surrender to the magic, if it's there, on the screen, and to believe the story somebody's telling. And then it's hard to talk of influence. Basically, if a film is good, and if I like it, then I watch it far less analytically than if I don't like it. It's hard to say that bad films have an influence; it's the good ones that influence us. And I try to watch - or rather, do watch - good films in the spirit in which they were made. I don't try to analyse them. It was the same thing at school, too. I watched 'Citizen Kane' (1941) a hundred times. If you insisted, I could sit down and probably draw or describe individual takes, but that's not what was important to me. What was important, was the fact that I took part in the film. I experienced it. Nor do I think that there's anything wrong in stealing. If somebody's gone that way before and it's proved to be good, then you have to steal it immediately. I always wan to be respected. It a nonnegotiable to me. I try to reciprocate the same through the way I treat others & work. That’s what my new contract with ESPN was about. I didn’t need to feel loved & the contract details would dictate my worth there. I wanted to agree to something that gave me a heart of gratitude walking into the building each day. So I worked for that. I stood on that & here we are. I feel so blessed for my progression. I got a lot of what I wanted, but certainly not all. It was a reminder. You ain’t “him” yet. So the goal remains the same. Do Right And Kill Everything. The energy is different but the grind is now! See y’all. EVERYWHERE! 🎥 Mr Sublime

Happening now (1:48 a.m.): 3rd attack in less than 12 hours . Two Israeli settlers tried to break the door lock to enter my yard. I went out to stop them, they escaped , but they returned with more armed settlers and soldiers, They damaged my yard door, they threw stones at me, and destroyed one of my CCTV cameras. Then they claimed that I had thrown stones at them. The army immediately broke into my yard and was about to arrest me for allegedly attacking the settlers who came to my home to steal it, and maybe to do something worse. Thank God I have CCTV cameras that proved what really happened and prevented another false arrest. They come to steal your house — and if you try to stop them, you are the one who gets arrested. I noticed that the attack was coordinated with the soldiers.

I feel like every time I looked up in 2025 I was reminded of my “why?” My “why” is to try to tell the truth in a way that lets you recognize your own story. It is to honor where I came from while still trying to build something that is bigger than me. It is to use my voice in a way that bridges the gap between the hurt and the healing. It is to take the meaning out of the Whirlwind instead of being swallowed by it. Music ain’t just something I do. It’s how I try to make sense of the world… and since I have yet to make complete sense of the world, I guess I’ll be doing this til the day I can’t. 🩵 Here is to another year of learning that momentum is a gift and not guaranteed. That when dreams move faster than you do, stay rooted and let the Lord carry you. Here is the bird’s eye view of 2025. 🐤 To sum it up, we bent it over our knee and wore its little a$$ out.

An emotional Brandt Snedeker: "To not have my card the last couple of years, to be struggling to do what I love, you know, to still have a passion to play this game the way I want to play it and to show people how I can still do it, especially not playing my best and struggling the way I did to come back and fight, claw my way back and play some great golf this year even though it hasn't seemed like it to people outside. "I knew I was playing well. I just hadn't been able to put it all together. Hopefully it shows my family, my kids something. Just, you know, ten wins out here is an accomplishment. Something I'm very proud of."

🐹 “Back to Life” was made about two or three years ago. I really wanted to try making a full-on rock song, so I told producer Helix that I wanted to make something like that and asked him to send me a track. He sent me one, and then I started working on it. Even the very first draft had all English lyrics. Back then, I wrote everything by myself, so there were a lot of grammatical mistakes and parts where the expressions weren’t strong enough. I kept it as a guide for a while, and then this year, when talk came up about doing a SKZ-PLAYER, I thought maybe this would be the right song to bring back out. So I asked LB to work on the lyrics. Based on the message I wanted to convey, I asked him to help fix the grammar and flesh things out more, and that’s how the song was completed. I think this was the right timing to release it. So I rerecorded everything, revised the track too, and that’s how it came out. 🐹 “Where did you make ‘Back to Life’?” I made it at my old studio, not the one I’m using now. 🐹 “What program do you use?” Cubase! 🐹 “When did you film the music video?” You know how I sent that Bubble message really early in the morning saying that I was going to do a lot this year? I think I also said there was something I really wanted to show you. That was actually the day we filmed it.
