We speak to formerly incarcerated activist Jose Saldana of Release Aging People in Prison Campaign and American University professor @orisanmi about the strike and the history behind it.

@RAPPcampaign @orisanmi It's coordinated. They hate Bail and prison reforms, because people are realizing we don't need as many prisons, CO's, or cops. Fire them all and investigate the unions representing them.

On Thursday, over a dozen nurses with the New York State Nurses Association were arrested for blocking the entrance to the front of the Manhattan headquarters of the Greater New York Hospital Association. The nurses' direct action was part of a "day of action" in their ongoing strike to demand fair wages and benefits and better working conditions. Around 15,000 nurses are currently on strike — the largest in New York City history. Thursday marked day 25 of their strike.

In Zaporizhzhia, Russia launched a second strike on the location of its first one as rescuers, police and doctors were hard at work trying to deal with the aftermath. A police officer and three rescuers were injured. You can see and hear the second strike on the video at about 24-25 seconds in. Russia continues with its tactics of attacking rescuers who help people after its strikes. It started this in Syria, and it keeps committing the same war crimes in Ukraine.
