So far, over 6,540 members of the National Samsung Electronics Union (NSEU), the largest union at Samsung Electronics, have participated in the strike. The union represents about 30,000 workers, or 24% of all Samsung employees. The union’s demands include a 5.6% basic pay raise for all members, a guaranteed day off on the union’s founding day, and compensation for economic losses due to the strike. Despite Samsung’s claims that the strike has not impacted production, the union reports disruptions on chip lines and that some equipment is running slower.
