The video showcases the new weather system and improved wave simulation (coming soon in v3!)

Very nice water! Some critiques: The lighting and coloring feels off with the boat appearing desaturated and too dark. It looks like a cloudy scene, but still strong highlights and shadows. Made some tweaks with Grok and GIMP

Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate the constructive criticism. I agree your tweaked image looks better. This was a quick demo I spent maybe an hour or so on and I started getting pretty color blind by the end of it. But I'll admit lighting/tonemapping is not a strong suit of mine. Any general tips?

by far the best threejs fidelity i've seen, ggs

@threejs this is not modern AAA. It is 2016 AAA

No cloth sim, no AAA. Add some physics to the sails, would be lit

That’s impressive! Truly incredible what you can create now a days . I’m. It so familiar with three.js in terms of developing with it but is anything done in Unreal/a unity and ported over or is it all strictly three.js code?

Thanks! And nope, I only use Blender for cleaning up assets. It’s all written in Javascript. Shaders are written in TSL which compiles down to GLSL or WGSL depending on if your browser supports WebGPU or not.

Very cool ! Thanks for the explanation ! Will have to give it a go sometime , powerful workflow !

browser graphics catching up fast 🔥 imagine this running on mobile

It runs at 60FPS on my phone

@dangreenheck Nice! Mobile tech keeps getting better 🚀

Audio!!

This would be AAA, in 2007.

Ser you cooked here

This is exactly the demo I'm showing friends who have doubts about @threejs being the future

Wow Dan!! this is super impressive!! I always loved the water systems in games... there's just something about them idk maybe I love the sea too much!! You've done an amazing job! so have you figured out how to mix calm parts of the sea with stormy ones>

We need a @playcanvas implementation as well

@threejs Looks so real. Unbelievable.

Chad

Beautiful, is this sort of subsurface scattering (is it still the method? It’s been ages since I last rendered stuff on softimageXSI-history…) in the frames showing sun hitting the water? Insane how this runs on the browser…

Yes that is SSS :)

Running on a browser, insane 🙌🏾

amazing

you spelled "rum" wrong

thats insane mate

its pretty good!

yeah dan but thats just you, You are the goat at this

Incredible. VN work.

*made for NASA employee with their supercomputers

Runs on my phone 🤷🏻♂️

Looks good, is it rendered/benchmark or live?

It is running in realtime at 60 FPS on my laptop. L

That's really, really impressive - WebGL I presume?

Jeeeeeeeez 🤯

@Ubisoft watch out we got a contender for Black Flag Web Edition

bro cooked here

Very nice underwater transition!

@Art_If_Ficial One week has felt like 4 years. Great fucking work.

Three.JS?

"AAA graphics aren't possible in the browser" Hold my beer 🍺

It's so realistic 👏

Outstanding work, Dan! I get stable 16-20 fps on Pixel 5, with software rendering. It's a really good result for the 3D scene. Have you used web worker with atomics and SAB by any chance?

Beautiful!
