According to reports, the Russians started employing a modified version of the Geran-4 jet-powered one-way attack drone destined for strikes against Ukraine's high-voltage power transmission lines. The Geran OWA-UAV was equipped with a special shaped-charge cutting warhead that focuses blast energy along a precise line to slice through metal... show more

How Russia’s Geran-5 drone becoming nightmare for Ukraine’s air defenses The Geran-5 jet-powered attack drone can already be compared to a cruise missile in terms of its effective performance, military expert Evgeny Mikhailov told Sputnik, commenting on Russia’s continuing increased production of such UAVs. He stated that the Geran-5 is a domestically made and relatively inexpensive drone, which has great potential for destroying enemy targets: “...the Geran-5 is a strike drone that is extremely difficult to intercept, especially given the current regrettable state of Ukraine’s air defenses...” It is the Geran-5’s speed, massive warhead, and a certain degree of invulnerability that makes the drone “a serious strike component of the Russian armed forces,” Mikhailov said. 👀 Holy shit, the Russians have started knocking down high voltage pylons in Kiev with jet drones! Ukrainian media reported that about 30% of Kiev is without power, and there are already problems with the electric transport and water supply. If these drone strikes are this accurate, Kiev is fucked this winter!

$🇮🇷🇷🇺🇺🇦 Russia's knockoff of Iran's own drone is apparently so good that Tehran came shopping. The Geran started as a copy of Iran's Shahed, and Western security officials say Tehran asked Moscow this year for the advanced versions to use in its war with Israel and the U.S. Ukraine is finding out why the hard way. Kyiv is intercepting only about 60% of the new jet-powered Geran-4 and Geran-5, compared with the 90 to 95% it routinely manages against older models. The Geran-5 flies at up to 600 km/h with a 90 kg warhead and a 1,000 km range, which puts it closer to a cruise missile than a drone. Newer versions also carry thermal cameras and AI-powered targeting. Russia mass-produces them and fixes problems on the fly instead of going through years of testing, and they still cost a fraction of the cruise missiles Moscow used to rely on. Zelensky says 67 Ukrainian companies are working on ways to shoot them down. For most of this war, Ukraine was the one setting the pace on drones, and now it's the one playing catch-up. BREAKING: Today, a Ukrainian Air Force MiG-29 9.13 successfully intercepted and shot down a Russian Geran-4 jet-powered one-way attack drone. Rare footage shows the MiG-29 intercepting and chasing the Geran-4 at extremely low altitude. In the left-hand footage, the fighter can be seen pursuing the drone close to the ground, while the right-hand footage captures the successful engagement and the MiG-29 subsequently flying over the burning wreckage of the destroyed drone. It is not yet known whether the Geran-4 was destroyed with an air-to-air missile or the MiG-29’s 30mm GSh-30-1 cannon. The interception comes as Russia is sharply increasing its use of faster, jet-powered Geran variants against Ukraine.

BREAKING: A major explosion followed by apparent secondary detonations has been observed near the M06 Zhytomyr Highway in the Bucha district of Ukraine's Kyiv region due to a suspected Russian one way attack drone strike. Footage from the scene shows a massive fireball, a powerful shockwave, flying debris, and what appears to be ammunition cooking off. Multiple accounts claim that a Russian Geran-4 jet-powered one-way attack drone struck an ammunition depot at the location. However, neither the Geran-4 attribution nor the identification of the site as an ammunition depot has yet been independently confirmed.

The devastating numbers of Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure: Since the start of the heating season, Russia has attacked Ukrainian energy facilities and heat supply systems 256 times, the Security Service of Ukraine said. Russian forces deliberately targeted Ukraine's 11 hydroelectric power plants and 45 major combined heat and power plants. In addition, they carried out 49 targeted aerial strikes on thermal power plants and 151 strikes on electrical substations. Each attack was combined: dozens of Geran drones and Iskander, Kalibr, Kh-101, and Kh-69 missiles. The heaviest strikes were recorded in Kyiv and Kyiv region, as well as in Kharkiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Mykolaiv, and Chernihiv regions. The attacks during the sharp cold snap led to large-scale power, heat, and water outages in the homes of millions of Ukrainians. The SSU classifies Russia's systematic attacks on Ukraine's energy system as crimes against humanity. ❗️ This is a consistent policy of the Kremlin aimed at destroying the Ukrainian people.

Russian Defense Ministry has now released footage from recent strikes with Geran-4 jet-powered long-range attack drones on two targets located on the Ukrainian side of the border with Poland. 1) "Yagodin" international road border crossing - on September 13, 2026, Russian Geran-4 OWA-UAV impacted a gas station situated in the vicinity of the Ukraine-Poland border checkpoint in Ukraine's Volyn Oblast. The attack caused the object and lorries parked there to catch fire. 2) Locomotive at the "Rymachi" train station - on the same day, the Russian military carried out a drone strike on the locomotive of a train at the nearby "Rymachi" station. According to reports, the attack took place shortly after the train carrying former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and top European security officials had passed through. No casualties were noted.

Meanwhile, Russian Armed Forces strike UAVs continue their operations. Zaporizhzhia is under daily mass attacks by Russian strike drones and FAB bombs. Strikes are constantly alternating against enterprises, gas stations, Ukrainian Armed Forces strongpoints, and railway hubs. Russian forces continue strikes on enemy locomotives using remotely controlled “Geran” drones (recently, 2 were destroyed under a bridge in Zaporizhzhia and 3 in the Kharkiv region). In the Sumy region, a “Geran-2 Seeker” drone struck an energy infrastructure facility in Konotop that was being used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. As a result of the strike, power supply to several industrial facilities in the city was cut off. Ukrainian monitoring channels report additional FAB strikes on the Sloviansk Thermal Power Plant area in the city of Mykolaivka.

🇷🇺⚡The Russian MoD carried out a series of major strikes against targets in Ukraine. Multiple energy infrastructures and substations damaged. Over 600 Geran-2 drones were used in today's attack against the terrorist regime. In Lvov, a drone was diverted off course by heavy Ukranian anti-drone jamming systems, hitting a UNESCO center. Either way, the Russian Federation does not bother to care. All strike objectives were achieved. Preparations for the next attack are underway. Geran productions have been increased.
